I heard an interview to where Tim said Gretchen thanked him for his outburst. Tim said there are other sides to her and that he ended up being fond of her. Tim is not shy in saying when he doesn't like some one or when they get a too positive (or negative) edit, so I'm going to wait and see what she produces from here on out.

If she is really that much beter than 75% of the other contestants why is it so wrong of her to go on record saying that the other contestants arent any good? This show is for a real shot in the fashion world. Tim Gunn is the one who is always saying how difficult the fashion world is and how the contestants have to be tough. Editing aside you cant have it both way Mr. Gunn. Gretchen has shown she is one of the better ones so far. I wouldnt want someone who is unsure of their talent winning this show.
Afterall, this is suppose to be a show about fashion not personality.

She's not the worst contestant ever, but I feel like after she won twice she really became condscending to everyone else. I think I dislike Ivy more though. Ivy's obsession with Michael C. is off-putting. How did that rumor about Michael C. telling people not to vote for her get started? I feel like if he had done that they would have had video of it and shown it, right?

There is a HUGE difference between being sure of your talent and being an out-right jerk when you're talking smack about the other contestants.

IF (and it's a mighty big IF) Gretchen was so far above everyone else, why did she need the help of a reality show in the first place? Or . . . why didn't they just snatch her up when she auditioned and give her a job on the spot?

I did notice near the end of the show that she was seated near Michael C on the couch. I also noticed the lack of a dagger in his back!

I am not defending Gretchen, I am trying to explain that the makers of this show are saying that fashion is a cut-throat business.

As far as Gretchen going on a reality show instead of making it on her own...well,there is that whole PR thing that is very important in fashion. Wanting your talents to be seen by millions of people is a pretty big draw.

You need to be able to take the cut throat starting out. Not dish it out when you are on the ground floor. Tim Gunn has put in his years. I don't see as having it both ways. It is cut throat and you have to have thick skin and be confident in your skills. that is not the same as putting down everyone else. Talk yourself up, but don't name names to drag people down when you are just staring out. I am not saying this about Gretchen in particular, but of people in general. Pay your dues.

And I don't think G is better than most of the people there. Some? Yes. I am not a fan of her fashion style that she has shown so far, but I don't hate it. I'm not that impressed so far with anyone, but I've read that some of the FW collections are really good, so I am hopeful.

If people who are watching the show, people who are not professional seamsters/seamstresses or designers, can watch the show and criticize and put their 2 cents in on who should have been auf'ed, then why can't a contestant who studied fashion, is a professional, is directly involved in/affected by the goings-on, and is privy to information we are not because of editing, do the same? First of all, she criticizes the work and not the designer. Secondly, it's in the heat of competition. And she is a contestant and it's her job to say what she thinks (otherwise, there is no show, just designers making garments and getting along). This is real life, these things happen at work, too. There are people that will rub you the wrong way.
