    ROFL, Little Sew&Sew.

Finally got to watch this ep. Was really looking forward to it, since I always thought fabric design sounded like so much fun. It didn't disappoint, it was even fun to watch them. I want one of those machines, I want, I want.

Anyway...Of the final designs, I liked Maya's print but I thought her dress too short and ill fitting (mainly from the farther camera shots), although it wasn't 'bad.' I didn't like Emilio's print or dress at all. They raved over it like they'd never seen a logo before :/ Maybe he was due for a win (has he won yet?) I felt almost like they didn't want to tip their hand to Seth Aaron as a favorite by giving him another win. Or maybe they didn't like his print much - I felt like it might've been a bit more complex although the colors looked great and the design and tailoring were impeccable. I think he's the most talented of the bunch, overall.

Really did not like Mila's gown/maxi dress but then, I don't like any of her work really. And what's with their comments about Carrie's "body shape" - not all models have to be pipe cleaner shaped. Not a bad ep overall. I hope they do a fabric challenge every season.

Yeah, why didn't they call Emilio out for copying Marc Jacobs (his Stephen Sprouse grafitti for Louis Vuitton)? And the Cristobel Balenciaga jacket? Nina noticed Maya's Nina Ricci-inspired creation yet failed to see this blatant copy. Tsk! Tsk! Tsk!

I've been getting the reverse - seeing some of the designs and finding inspiration to make pendants based on the ideas. They're not literal, but there was an outfit during the metal challenge that lead to me designing a certain fused glass piece. I think it was Jonathan's copper colored one - and I ended up with a steampunk type of copper and blue colors of diachroic.
Oooh...can you post a pic of your finished piece? That sounds nice!

I did not like the fabric at all. I've seen some awesome graffiti prints out there. That looked nothing like artistic graffiti.

    watts: exactly!

Thanks for the pix - I knew his looked familiar but couldn't place it. But I mean, it isn't that creative to just doodle one's name...nor does it mean he's going to need that one day due to his being a household name designer. But the judges seemed to think if he put his name on his clothes he's already a superstar. It struck me as a little odd.

Oh my. Good catch. Now I don't like Mark Jacobs' print either, but his is MILES better than Emilio's.

Also, Emilio's dress and jacket seemed basic, to me. Seth Aaron's was more original - and his use of color was really good. The bright yellow tie pulling in the yellow from the print. Emilio's was a dress, with a black jacket.

Maybe it looked a lot better 'in person'?

I agreed with the guest judge that the heart shape should've been echoed somewhere in the tailoring, though. Also, I'm not sure if there was one or two, but it seemed there was only one heart shape and it was after the A? Maybe if there had been a heart each side of the name, it would've been easier for Tim and others to decipher.

If you're gonna brand yourself people had better be able to read it! ;p

It was ESSA ... With the heart representing the letter O in E.Sosa.
That's why Tim was asking him if it meant: Emilio Sosa (ES) Loves Seth Aaron (SA).

I just want to add that SA's designs are always things that in my opinion .... not everyone can wear to advantage. Maya's fall in that category for the most part.

Anthony's dresses and in this challenge Emilio's are more universal ... that is most women not shaped like the MOTR would find them easier to wear.

I thought Jonathan's print was interesting and I like the soft, subdued print, but it seemed to be the wrong fabric, and the jacket was creative but I thought wrong for the dress. (I thought Kor's remark about it looking like a dirty table cloth was indeed preposterous, rude and unnecessary.)

Mila's thing was a disaster. She really missed the boat with this. She could have put something together in her color-blocking style and done much better. The dress itself was a throw away, and whoever said it looked "thrift shop" and not in a good way was right and she deserved to be eliminated.
I don't know anyone who would wear Mila's dress but plenty who would wear Anthony's.
