wow, I can't believe the difference between this season and last season. Back in NYC, yeah..The premiere felt fresh and full of energy the designers all looked interesting and had unique points of view. I loved the final runway. Really liked the clothes and the use of patterns and colors. Thank God no more just black or the occasionally white or taupe dress. The show felt dead last season, now it seems alive. Look forward to seeing the next episode.

PS: Emilio reminded me a lot of Ra'mon and I thought he would be the first one eliminated.

Ah, for just one time I would take the Northwest Passage.

So far so good. There are too many designers to remember right now but the girl who cries all the time is annoying. I don't claim to be a fashionista but I thought the dress that got auf'ed was cute. I didn't like Ping's design, it looked like she just threw the material on the model.
Anyone watching Models of the Runway? I try to watch but am usually so tired and half asleep by then I froget what happens.

I saw the replay yesterday and am happy that there is a person each from RI and from MA. I think for the first challenge there were no really hideous
outfits. Usually there is something ( or more) that takes me aback but even the two bottom dresses were OK....actually I kind of liked the Vegas retro glamour gown that the judges were sarcastic about. The real problem was the seem when he decided to lengthen it but it was well made and the little train was a great contrast to the Skin fabric.

And the gown looked heavy (embossed "leather" gown, really!?!) Looked like a giant chocolate bar. Looked more like up pageant gown-maker Anthony's alley.

When Ping was announced in the Top3, I couldn't believe it. I really didn't like it when I first saw it come down the runway. When I saw that Elizaveta had a piece of cloth hanging down her arm, I thought Ping gave her extra material to carry. I really didn't like it.

During the runway show though, they didn't show Elizaveta coming onto and entering the runway. But then they played a replay of the dress during judging. So then, this came on:

And then I totally got it. The extra material was really some sort of headdress. That's when I started to warm up to Ping's design. It was creative and original, and originality is what PR desperately needs after last season.

So far, there have been some pretty good characters. I think Ping will be a memorable one in the long run. Anthony also. I just hope he won't get annoying. Right now, he's fine. And there's still time for others to show their true colors. Last season, I think the only really good characters were Mitchell and Irina. But Mitchell was gone very early, and Irina couldn't carry a whole season on her own.

As for Christiane, I thought of Qristyl's first dress when I saw it come down the runway. The worst part of her piece was the pattern print at the bottom of the dress. It didn't look right placed there. I think if she had gotten ridden of patttern print at the bottom (keep the pattern at the top though) and just stuck with the blue, it would had been a safe piece.

I liked Ping's design as well. I loved the way it moved. I understand the perception that she just draped some material on the model. I think the simplicity of the look is deceiving, that it would be difficult to create.

Her design aesthetics are in the same vein as the Japanese designers (Yohji Yamamoto, Kenzo, Rei Kawakubo) and reminds me a bit of James Paul from the Fashion Show. So I can understand why Michael Kors and Nicole Ritchie were awe-struck when her look came out. If she decides to do the same type of flowy, bunched-up, drapey type of garments everytime, it could get tired easily. And from her audition, I didn't see her present finished, polished looking clothes that were machine sewn.

I liked Ping's design. It was a breath of fresh air. I'm getting sick of seeing the same silhouettes coming down the runway. I've seen too many of the same details on too many shows. Be different. Be cutting-edge.

I think I'm liking the designs of people who have not attended formal design school from the states because it seems the graduates produce cookie cutter designs. I know they may have more construction experience and technique but the schooled seem less creative.

Now, I like many of the best works showcased in the opening segment. Apparently, the show doesn't do the designer's justice because the junk created doesn't hold a candle to their previous works. I'm still irritated by the rush rush requirements. It makes them resort back to design school basics. Puffed shoulders, puffed hip pockets, baby doll dresses, yawwwwn.

I liked Ping's design too. It's high time the judges let somebody stay in the show who sees fashion slightly left of norm. I would actually like to see more of that.
