Okay, I'm going to add my qualifications here:
Straight woman (probably old enough to be your mother).
Several gay and bisexual friends over the years.

Did some deep soul searching regarding homosexuality and how I feel about it when my son had a male roomate who was "flamboyant". My son is not your traditional "manly-man" -- so I sat down with my son and told him that if he is gay -- that's fine with me. I just don't want him to ever have to hide who he is, etc -- after my heart wrenching talk, my son said "Mom, I'm not gay...but thanks for sharing"

(his friend is bisexual). This led to my son giving me all sorts of information about sexuality which enlightened me considerably (although I could have gone to my grave without seeing that book on S&M

).
So, the above qualities make me as clueless as everyone else, right?
