Hmmm no idea how the end works but I would think as it starts to whittle down you wouldn't want the strong there because they might beat you to the final treasure. Then again with the choosing of sides being (supposedly but who really knows?) random that might be too risky to do.

In Survivor, isn't it in your best interest to eliminate the big competitors quickly? Like Ozzie. So they don't beat you in the final one. Since this show seems to be Survivor on the High Seas, might be the same thing?

    I don't see that.

    Similarities:
    Burnett show.
    Tropical location.
    Physical challenge each episode.

    Differences:
    Where do I begin?......
    -No specific set teams.
-Teams set weekly, then disbanded. Different teams following week.
-One person (Captain) in charge of everyone else.
    -The henchmen (Officers).
-The money given out during the show. (Bargaining tool).
    -Partially scripted.
    -Contestants wear period clothing. (Costumes).
    -The host. (Okay, moot).
-Only three, instead of as many as eight, at risk of being voted off at "Tribal". (Term used reluctantly).
-Way more structured, and far less strategizing.
-The whole thing attached to this Captain Steel, Chest of Zanzibar storyline thing.
    -Yada yada yada.

I can understand the Survivor attachment because of the Burnett name and the palm trees, but in my mind it ends there.

We'll just agree to disagree *GRINS* because I do see it as Survivor on the High Sea. Instead of outwit, outlast, blah blah they have their little motto. Just has that same feel but don't feel like breaking it down. I was more referring to the overall feel of the show.

Thats like saying Big Brother is like Survivor in an Ikea Ad (well early seasons )

To me it is more of an Apprentice on the High Seas. I think the last scene is more like the Boardroom than Tribal Council.

Yep, I can see it being Apprentice-like and the boardroom. What gave me that notion in the first place (planted the seed) was reading the recap by Yardgnome that referred to it as survivor on a boat. Then I started paying closer attention and the Pirates Court just really reminded me of Tribal Council for some reason.

For me, this show is weak because it is actually making me look forward to the start of Big Brother!

When do the lady pirates figure out that they aren't likely to be voted captain and as a result won't see much of the loot?

Do you honestly believe none of the women could be captain, or that in a mixed crew it is unlikely for the men (and women) to vote a woman into the position?
