This is separate from the regular show. My understanding is that we get to watch master pastry chefs do their thing.

The Masterclass episodes have a bit of review/rehashing the regular show, mainly to show the contestants as they work on the challenges that Paul & Mary are going to make. Then Paul & Mary start the demo/instruction. They ARE in show's baking tent, and you can see the baking stations behind them, but it's empty - the contestants aren't there.

Oh and I will add one thing that we get to learn from them - that Paul really, really likes to use his hands to mix things. He rarely uses a spoon or mixer. Mary gives him a hard time about it, but he says that's how he learned to bake and it helps him to feel if the dough is right. As a side note, I read up on him in wikipedia and he has an interesting history. He really does come from a baking family. And believe it or not, Hollywood is his real last name. :-D

My DVR picked up a Christmas Masterclass today! It's fun so far. But they are making very British Christmas treats. Don't think I'll be making any mincemeat anything. lol

The American holiday baking show starts Dec 1 on network TV. Mary is there but didn't see Paul.

Paul was not there last year either. They have an American baker, Johnny something. I really like the hosts on this one - Nia something and her husband. I'll start a thread for this as it is the second season.
