Candor, you sure do display a great deal of insight into your situation. That's quite rare, IMO. My weight has fluctuated too, but most of my life I have been average, even on the thin side some of the time. I felt like I deserved the best then and when I was heavier. At least I really think I did. lol

Those on this show seem to almost always suffer from some childhood trauma or have some very dysfunctional family situation. But, I also notice that many have husbands and boyfriends who seem to be committed to them.

I am attracted to Lupe's story and I hope she puts up a Facebook page where we can wish her well and she can share updates every 3 months.

The helpful husband, or just part of the sickness. Their flirting online is surely injurious to their spouses. "Weight" of their spouse could be a reason for divorce but not a reason for multiplicitous relationships (cheating). They get something from their enabling.

Lupe should regard him more as a friend than a romantic partner. She is looking for love in the wrong places (because of childhood trauma).
The last word isn't really important in situations when nobody is listening.

I so agree. I think he cares about her and she about him, but he isn't "in love" with her. I saw an update about her and she is up and walking... working out.

New here - I love this show, especially watching their lives completely change for the better so often. I've used this & Hoarders to show my kids to not judge people, because there's always a back story of abuse, loss, etc, & we all tend to use different things to numb pain; there are just the extremes.

Loved Lupe & felt so badly for her; agree he should be more of a friend to her. He seemed to be her main motivation, & that's not good. She needs to do it for herself, no one else, especially not a man. Hoping to see she does well in the future.

And especially not a man like him. He was cheating on her! She's just setting herself up for heart ache, because I doubt he has stopped.

I doubt it as well. My worry for her is she'll lose the weight but for him, because he's used her weight as an excuse (which it isn't). Then she'll find out he's still cheating & spiral down again. So my hope is she gets empowered by the process instead & will love her newfound independence from him.

Well, you know these people are messed up to some degree (both partners), or they wouldn't be in this situation; just sayin'...

owlgrl, go to the "Introductions" thread under "Announcements / Help Desk" forum. Let everyone welcome you here.

Dare I hope that you might be a Big Brother fan? OK, if not, I'll see you elsewhere.

A hint: If you want to see easily what all the hot topics here are daily, use the "What's New" button to see what's being talked about. Easier than searching Forums.
