    Miss Universe 2015

    Oh my, Steve Harvey...so embarrassing

Pageant gaffe: he announced the wrong winner!!! Yikes! Originally called Miss Columbia as winner but it was actually Miss Philippines

    LOL!!!!!!!!!

    Maybe NOT.

    Then again, MAYBE.

    Ya never know!

This isn't the first time I've heard of this happening. A few years back (2009/10, I think?), the wrong Australian Top Model winner was announced on that show, too. I think the show hostess is STILL traumatized behind slamming into that particular wall.

    He made a mistake.

    A HUGE one, yep!

    BUT . . .

Steve'll get past this, eventually, and life will go on.

In the meantime, if I were him, I think I'd put on a disguise and take a vacay out of the country.

Just for a LITTLE while, anyway!

However, we would NOT recommend that he take that vacay in Colombia.

If not for the gaffe, Miss Uni probably wouldn't have made front and center on my news sites this morning. Heck, I haven't watched a pageant in years, and I can even name the second place winner today (or is that first loser according to Abby Lee of Dance Moms? ).

I like Steve Harvey, but I think even though it made the news, we know it was for all the wrong reasons..

I wonder why it happened. Did the announcement have the parties' names written down incorrectly? Did they have it worded in a confusing way. They should have it prepared in a very clear way, but maybe they didn't.

The card Steve was given (which is available online) was not well written. It should have been more precise and with larger fonts with no chance for error. Stage lighting may have been partially to blame for the misread. At the end of live TV programs, it's normal for the host to be given a cue to hurry it up to stay within the formatted time allowance. Steve may have been in a hurry for that reason and misread the card. However, the producers of the show should have gone over a sample card with Steve prior to the program so he was familiar with it. Had the card been better written, Steve would have made the proper announcement. What he was handed had to be "deciphered" to determine what was what on it.

I don't think that the card was confusing at all. On the left hand side it clearly stated: 2nd runner up: USA; 1st runner up: Colombia.
On the right hand side it said Miss Universe 2015: Philippines

I saw a picture of the card too. I thought it was an accident waiting to happen. It clearly stated the finishing order, but putting the winner on the right side at the bottom in such small print could be deceiving if he hadn't seen the setup before hand.
Plus 2nd Runner Up is technically #3, 1st Runner Up is technically #2. With any pressure whatsoever I could see him seeing the #1 in 1st Runner Up, & not seeing the winner's name listed underneath, and making the mistake.

They should be listed in a row with the winner directly underneath, not in the opposite corner.
I'm surprised this hasn't happened before if that's how they're always written.
