why should people be rewarded for being FAT? If you're over 20 BMI, you shouldn't be allowed on this show. What'entertaining about watching fat people lay around in their sleeping bags? Why not set it up to make people provide food for themselves, the more the better, (up to a point at least) The fewest lbs lost, in say, 2 months, is the winner.

They can easily juice enough kelp, in 2 hours, to be 400 calories to the good. That's not enough to feed them under their conditions, but you do need some carbs to keep your brain working, avoid apathy, depression, bad decisions. The kelp is the only viable carb source on the island, at that time of year. Netting fish is the only viable calorie/protein source, and baiting in a bear or seal, and arrowing it, is the only viable fat source. You'll need a lot of netting in order to average catching the 20 lbs per day that you'll need to win (reliably) Depending upon the size of the gillnet allowed, you can take enough 9 strand, 750 paracord (in the gillnet and hammock) to weave 3000-4000 sq ft of 4" mesh netting. You can make a pontoon raft in a day. You really need to paddle a few miles up and down the coast from your dropoff point, so that you can be sure that you're setting up in the optimal spot.

Well that requirement would have eliminated the majority of the cast in all of the previous seasons.

You do watch this show? They do provide food for themselves and they do show how hard it is.
No goat killers on my island.
