    Re: Battlebots

Here are the fights from episode 1

    Bite Force v Blacksmith
Mecha Rampage vs. DUCK! vs. Free Shipping
    SubZero vs. HUGE
    Bombshell vs. LockJaw
    Tombstone v Minotaur

Also, the episode will be re-run on the Science Channel on Wednesday, and that showing will feature one additional fight - Kraken vs. Sharkorpion vs. Deviled Egg

I'm predicting Free Shipping to win the Giant Nut, and it may sound crazy to back a team that's never been on Battlebots, but I think they stand a good chance. Underneath that silly-looking forklift is a very solid brick of a robot that can withstand even the most powerful of spinners. The team are the reigning champions of a non-televised tournament for several years running.

As soon as I saw it, I said that it was too easy to tip over and not upright itself.

Even with some familiar teams fighting it out last night, there was something about DUCK that caught my fancy.

Tombstone vs. Minotaur was epic with even the floor of the arena being torn up. They said that a piece of torn up flooring is what stopped Minotaur in its tracks once it was almost fatally injured.

They sort of compensate for that with the wheels - the wheels touch the ground when they're sideways, and they can flail around & eventually tip right-way-up.

Mecha Rampage was a very unconventional design, and it surprised me with how much damage it could do. Seriously too bad that its battery caught fire at the end - I think they would've won it if they were on fire but alive.

And of course, the featured fight was amazing, and a very funny way to win.

It's so great to have something to watch on Friday night! That's usually a pretty dead night for tv. I love this show!

You'd think by now all the designers would put a self-righting mechanism on their bots. There's nothing more frustrating than seeing a bot that was doing well go out because they flipped over and couldn't do anything but spin their wheels.

It just seemed a bit too tall the upright easily.

Perhaps, although looks can be deceiving. Approximately 220 of their 250 pounds of weight, are concentrated in that grey block underneath

My ideal - a low to the ground lifter (wedge) with a pop up lever on top in case they land upside down they can right themselves.
