*sigh* I hate to be this person but some guys just like chubby chicks. Just like some like chubby guys. Not as a fetish. Not as a sexual thing. Not as a chubby chaser. Not to be a feeder. Just like some chicks like tall guys and some chicks like short guys and some guys like big boobs and some guys like small boobs. And some guys like butts and others like legs. I don't think I've felt uglier in my entire life than reading the last few comments on this thread.

I'm not sure why. Nothing posted upthread isn't true: some people DO have a fetish for large and morbidly obese mates. No one said that ALL people attracted to large mates have a fetish. There are people who are feeders and feedees and there are men who have a fetish for extremely large women. Heck, there are women who make a living being "cam girls" online and showing off their large bodies for money. If you google for these sorts of fetishes, I'd expect that it would feel a lot like falling down a rabbit hole. In the case of this show, however, I'd guess that Lenny's fetish actually has more to do with getting on TV and not with dating a super obese woman like Whitney.

Yes, people are attracted to who they're attracted to but, sorry, it IS a sexual thing. That's the point, isn't it? Why would we find certain body types attractive in a partner if it wasn't about sex? It doesn't mean that it's always a fetish, but if what we find attractive in a partner isn't sexual, what is it?

I think it's clear that Whitney's weight is out of control and the fact that she's very large has now become profitable and very much a part of who she feels she is. She's become a name brand and is probably making good money as a result. I wonder if that's part of why she isn't losing the weight. I hope she's able to get herself together because it doesn't seem like she's going to live a long life if she continues on this path. Based on Whitney's height - 5'2" - and the weight she says she is - 350 lbs (I think she likely weighs more) - her BMI is 64. Anything over 50 is classified as Super Obese - that's above Morbidly Obese, btw. Any way you look at it, Whitney's weight is extremely high and very dangerous and, outwardly at least, she doesn't seem to take it seriously. I hope that changes before it's too late for her.

I hope she works on her health too. Being in denial, will not serve her well. And if it has to do with keeping her tv show....well....that's really sad. I bet her parents would do all they could to help her if necessary. They seem to live a comfortable life. Plus, she has a college degree. Certainly, she could support herself. AND I would think that TLC could find something for her with their network if she got down to a more reasonable weight. I would think she might be an even bigger star if she were able to do more intensive workouts and return to dancing again. I mean the dancing that she really wants to do and not the dancing that is so restricted due to her size.

There IS a whole (mostly online) porn industry centering around morbidly obese women. That's what Zsazlyn (sp?) was shown being into and, judging by Whitney's recreation of one of Z's scenes in the preview, she might be as well. So I think that might qualify as a "fetish," which simply means sexual preference of a particular sort. Z definitely enjoyed the attention, fame, and -- I suspect -- money; she only pursued weight loss surgery in order not to die and leave her poor daughter alone with that horrid husband (who, after all, married her because he was sexually attracted to her super-morbidly obese state). I'm sorry to offend your sensibilities; that wasn't my intent. We're just discussing the show.

I think TLC would keep her on even if she lost weight. It's her personality that keeps the show going. Heck I would miss Babs , she is pure gold for the show.

Like I said prior I do not watch this show but seeing that 'preview' was scary.

OMG. My only wish for Whitney is to seriously think about realizing she needs to lose some of that weight.

Yes, I get it, she LOVES her size.

BUT growing up in my home, my Mom was a Nurse. She worked every single day in the local hospital/ER. AND this was a time when other Mom's did NOT work.

My Dad got us up every morn for school and we all walked out the door together. Dad to work and us 5 kids to school.

My Mom started almost every day with some cute sweet little saying. Its the IRISH in her.

ANYWAY, the one I remember the MOST was "Your Health is your Wealth" .... Mom still says it to this day.

Dad is 89yo and golfs every day. Mom is 88yo and if she is not swimming in her pool, she is playing Bridge with all her lady friends.

So I wish Whitney...would think about that...your HEALTH being your WEALTH.

    Ok, Kar's vent is over.

Unfortunately for women like Whitney, there's an attitude among many in the fat acceptance movement that losing weight is somehow "betraying the cause." No matter that continuing to be that heavy is shortening her life. It's as if anyone who decides to lose weight for their health is making a statement against those who haven't/won't lose the weight. It's very dangerous, IMO. I hope that Whitney can ignore any of that toxic nonsense and take care of herself vs. listening to people who really don't care about her. BTW, several prominent people in the fat acceptance movement have died in the last year due to obesity related illness and, although they were older than Whitney, they were still what I would consider YOUNG (one at 46 and another at 55).

From what we've seen she hasn't had very good medical advice but I thought she was told that losing weight would help counteract her PCOS so she might be able to have kids.

We have seen the medical advice that she and TLC have wanted us to see, but she may have gotten additional advice off screen. It's difficult to figure out. But, in the previews, Whitney's best friend is saying that she can't function, so I'm not sure what the defense to that would be.

You can edit out but you can't edit in. I don't doubt there was more, but what we were shown was not good advice and inclined to leave her in denial about the health consequences of her obesity. That's a double whammy, unlikely to lead to significant weight loss.

Looking forward to seeing her parents again!
