If something tremendous happened this last summer, wouldn't we have herd about it already, even before the new series begins? I've always wondered about that for any of these gold/treasure shows. Could the powers that be keep secrets shut down that tightly?

I hate being cynical; love these treasure hunts.

Even if they did find something, they probably would rather not leak it out until they got everything out of the ground,
and that might take awhile considering the difficulty of finding the treasure.
I mean, last thing they need is more folks snooping around the island, disrupting the operations, etc...

My son-in-law is fascinated by this show. I swear he'd go to Oak Island and help dig if he could.

Well it took six episodes, but I finally caught up watching through this week's show
Here's where we're at after six weeks:

Amazing they spent $2 million on the oscillating pipe drill thing so far

But after all that, it seems 140 feet down they appear to have hit a searcher tunnel rather than the treasure vault they were looking for.
Furthermore, the searcher tunnel is flooded, so the extent that water is rushing in from the ocean just as fast
as they can pump it out, so draining the tunnel is impossible. Probably a dead end here.

So onto the next target for the oscillating pipe drill bit. A test hole a few feet away had revealed possible gold shiny objects.
Well, maybe the second half of Season 4 might turn up something good...Can't wait

Year, hubby has given up on the show, but I'm still hangin' in there.
    Soooo much money being spent.
Sure hope that gold shiny thing gets bigger and better.

(My sceptical side wonders if production chooses to 'provide' a few little findings, like the ship spike, to keep some semblance of a story line.)

I want there to be something there, but I'm losing hope.

This is starting to look like the mentality of those who pay $100 a month for years for a storage locker to keep crap that isn't worth $500 to begin with. When is it no longer financially feasible to keep spending millions of dollars to find something that might not be there? Or can they just afford this as an expensive hobby?

I can't watch this show. I need some good pay off at some point. I'm the same way with Finding Bigfoot too. And there's some show where a guy goes around looking for historical treasures that he never ever finds that I gave up on.
