Family Dance-Off with Derek Hough (Sunday Aug 25th, 8PM ET - ABC)

    It's a one-time competition special, airing tonight:

Hosted by Derek Hough, Family Dance Off is a one-hour special featuring five families who love to dance and who get the chance of a lifetime to perform and compete on a Hollywood stage before a live studio audience. Five families with a variety of backgrounds and styles will perform, the studio audience will vote, and the favorite family will dance away with a grand prize of $10,000. Get ready to bust a move. Family Dance Off airs SUNDAY, AUGUST 25 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on The ABC Television Network.

Derek Hough is Dancing with the Stars' only four-time winning professional dancer. He has risen to become a show favorite, with an eye for innovative and daring choreography that earned him his fourth and fifth Emmy nominations in 2013. Hough has transformed America's favorite actors, athletes and singers into dancers, and now he's helping real-life families dance dream become a reality.

While I can't help but acknowledge he has won DWTS several times he is not a favorite of mine.

Saw it. Thought it was stupid.

Probably was a pilot that wasn't picked up honestly... based on the way he said "Maybe you'll be here next time" and the like.

Derek was good in it, and I thought his working with the dancers was good and their reactions were priceless...

But honestly the dancing was not that great except for the top two.

I just watched this show for a few seconds. I saw a child dancing, and realized that Disney was aiming this show at those under five years old. I thought the families might consist of older teens.

Derek did a very job being host. That is the only good thing I can think of to say. The dancing was strictly amateur hour stuff.

The show got a 0.7 rating, which means not very many people watched the show.

Was it even promoted? Can't get viewers if you don't even make a minimal effort to promote the show.

I liked it. Sure there were two families that were downright cringe worthy (Irish Jam, Booty Shaking Dad), one family that made me cringe a little (12 year old girl), then there were two that were really good. I thought the right family won, they did a great job.

This show felt "undone", it was pretty obvious that it was not supposed to be a one-off show. I think that with more time and even a half-butt effort at promoting the show that it could have been better. I like the concept and Derek did a good job hosting. I would have liked to see more interaction with him and the families. Also, they should have brought in somebody to help them put routines together.

Good show, tons of potential, they should tweak it and bring it back.

I don't think it was promoted at all on TV -- I heard about it when someone posted in Derek's thread here.

    LOL!

That was me if the post was recently. I saw it on the TV Guide!! I did not see it advertised anywhere. I had gone into my Yahoo to check my email and the TV Guide for the night was showing on the side, I saw it there and thought "Huh? What is that?" So rushed over here to share.
