Apparently there are several international versions out there already. It would be an ideal opportunity to educate viewers on how dives are scored....that is if it wasn't completely subjective.
That was a great message! And I've had a terrible day, so thank you.I love random acts of kindness.Really, realy appreciated.Scott- RIP SDL<3

I will continue to watch the show for a chance to watch Greg Louganis. He accomplished more by the time he was 21 than Kendra will ever do in her entire life. She needs to disappear. Uggh! Suh's dives weren't very good, but he did do an inward, which is very scary, and Kendra should absolutely have gone before him or anyone else.

I didn't know much about Nicole Eggert before, but what she did last night was more than courageous and admirable.

I was a competitive diver in high school, and I saw Greg Louganis win his first 10M gold medal at the Olympics in person, so I had to watch this show...............OK did that. Only 3 divers with any sort of potential and all were grossly underscored, or should I say their competition was grossly overscored. I think I'll revert to something more fun next Tuesday - like tax returns.

OMG, I so love this, I love you. I was a swimmer and life guard but never a diving ace though not shabby. This show is just nuts. I will watch from my DVR and use FF liberally because I just have to see where this mess is going. I am surprised that TV talk shows are not panning this. I am stalled for any more words.

Just watched this. Absolutely hated the judges giving massive bonus points for courage and/or back story. The way the judges are going, they're going to eliminate the better divers. Especially with the audience vote counting for 50%, the judges should only rate the quality of the dive. The audience will be take those other factors + popularity into account in their voting.

I have to think that either the judges are idiots or the producers are influencing the judges to keep certain contestants.

    Re: Splash

First off, I too love and respect Greg Louganis tremendously. That said, I'm probably the only one on the board that feels this way, but I like Kendra and I enjoy following her as she goes through her life. YES, she is low class and can be crass, but I like how she married an extremely great, super-nice, wholesome guy, and together, they are raising a wonderful son, and she has really turned her life around --- cause I originally assumed that after living with Hef and his harem, she was probably going to end up as some poor wannabe porn star.

But, as far as Kendra's behavior on this show is concerned, as someone who has suffered from phobias in my life, I really GET that Kendra was terrified about diving. On one of the talk shows, she said that because she has always been very athletic, she thought that, even though she had never done any diving before, it would be relatively easy to dive off a diving board, and so she signed up to do the show. BUT, when she actually got up on a diving board and looked DOWN into the water, she was PETRIFIED and just couldn't do it. And the more Greg pressured her and refused to acknowledge her paralyzing fear, the angrier and more fearful she got. I don't think it was theatrics. I KNOW what it feels like when you're completely and totally petrified to do something but you're forced to do it anyway. Scariest thing in the world. So, that's my 2 cents, for whatever it's worth.

By the way, I agree with all the posters that this show itself is pretty awful, and the judging is really, really terrible --- Kendra's high score included! I just give her props for DOING the dive --- but of course the dive itself wasn't good.

Well, I was actually referencing that he had medaled in his first two Olympic Games before he was 21, but I'll take your version, too, cubsfan.

The swimsuits they had the ladies in we're pretty unflattering, too.

    Re: Splash

    1. This is not a show about competitive diving. Its a show about people of different heights, weights, age groups and varying degrees of athleticism (0-10) learning the basics of diving at an accelerated rate. It is no more about professional diving than DWTS is about professional dancing. I would not expect a show about diving that includes a 7 foot plus 65 year old , a 425 pound 58 year-old and a little person to be going by the strident rules of Olympic/professional and amateur diving. I do know this is about entertainment.
    2. I am athletic, the water is my second home, I love diving but I can appreciate, applaud and root for Louie Anderson because he has this amazing work ethic, he does more than what is expected of him and his dives, while not graceful or in any way good enough for the competitive world, still make me smile and yes, cheer for him. As I cheer for Nicole Eggert and Christy Chastain. These people are giving it their all despite the fact this is just an entertainment show.
    3. I do like the back stories. Why? Because, again, this isn't a sports competition, its entertainment. Therefore, it`s appropriate to know a bit about everyone. I think some of the information is both fun and yes, meant to tug at my heartstrings (or not). I know I'm being manipulated. Thats fine. Its entertainment.
    4. I agree the scoring is all over the place and this week screamed of `fixed`(synchro diving) because of the pairings, but perhaps judge no.1 (the young pro diver) will be told to reign in his crazy subjective scoring, since he is the primary reason for the wide range in scores. For example, this week he over scored Nicole and Christi by a lot and minimized their incredible lack of synchronized. Yet, he was all over Louie and Kareem for their lack of synchronized. Even though the very act of teaming up two people with such huge height discrepancies would automatically make them look awkward and out of synch, even if they were pros. Judge no.2 seems more objective and restrained.
    5. Let's face it, this is all about emotions and rooting for a person or people we like. And rooting against those we don't. Some of these people are likable while others, like Kendra, are there to clearly cause divisiveness. and drama.
    6. I think they need to spend more time focusing on Greg Louganis and his interaction with/training the participants. Hes an icon who put diving on the map for many Americans.
