I really hope this isn't the case, but the way Dr. Jenn kept talking about how there are so many unanswered questions after speaking with Courtney's mom made me think VH1 is considering a reality show just analyzing that messed-up trio. There are some serious issues there. Courtney's mother kissing Doug on the mouth when she entered the facility was beyond wrong.

Sometimes I wonder if Dr. Jenn needs therapy. Doug married a MINOR. They don't need therapy...they need the nut house. Courtney is the most trashiest girl I have ever seen. You can be sexy and alluring, without being absolutely gross. She belongs on a pole. Her Mother should be ASHAMED she let an old man date, then marry her MINOR daughter.

I agree with what you're saying Jennifer, although I have a slightly different take on what I think was the REASON that Courtney's mom allowed Courtney's relationship and marriage with Doug. Because the mom was so emphatic about how 'wilful' Courtney was as a young girl and a teenager, I get the feeling that she was more than just 'wilful' --- Courtney was probably one of these totally defiant, uncontrollable' - mind of her own' - completely out-of-control, rebellious, and disobedient kind of girls who would go totally berserk when someone dared to tell her what to do, and who was also hypersexualized and God knows what else --- and who was, basically, waaaay more than the mother could handle. So Doug, who was a calming, stablizing influence on Courtney, must have seemed like the answer to the mom's prayers, in that he, at least, kept her daughter safe and somewhat under control.

So I can see where Courtney's being with Doug could seem 'wrong' on so many levels, but in this particular case, it was probably Courtney's least harmful alternative. My guess is that without Doug (or someone like him) Courtney would probably have been headed for total disaster as an obnoxious, bitchy, drugged up prostitute, or an addict selling drugs to make a buck, or maybe she'd be doing porno flicks --- or whatever. At least, with Doug, she's got the chance of a much better life.

Read your above post. It's nice to read your perspective. You, very well, could be correct. I still wonder how Courtney became so out of control, etc. when she was home schooled. Definitely defies your stereotype of the homeschooled child.

It is truly sad when the best option in a really bad situation is to allow your minor child or marry a man older than her biological father. Those parents totally messed up in raising that girl. Yea...I can actually see her doing porn in the next few years.

She really is gross and skanky. Maybe she wouldn't be so bad is she:

1) Removed the long, bright hair extensions.
2) Stopped wearing heavy, caked on make up.
3) Had her fake books taken out.
4) Saved her "stripper" shoes for the club, pool or home.
5) Divorced Doug
6) Went to college...dates boys in her own age group.

She's missing out on time that can never be turned back. Also, for someone who was "homeschooled", she doesn't seem very educated. Doug is really doing a disservice to her. I can't believe she can't see that.

I don't think Courtney is so dumb. And who knows. I think she'll probably end up doing something completely different from what she's doing now. Maybe she's just going through a rebellious phase and is looking for a father. Seems like her father is not much in the picture-- and maybe Doug, for all that it's a kind of queasifying relationship, is a father figure. It's just a lot more overt than most people are about marrying one.

I also don't think she's a skank because I don't believe in the concept of "skank" in the first place; but also even though she plays the part to the hilt, for attention, and her action seem very desperate, she herself seems fairly committed to Doug-- despite having her ex-boyfriend, whom she doesn't give up. She is a kid really-- and one who has a bit of arrested development hidden under the layers of breast enhancements, make-up and skimpy outfits.

My mother was a MINOR when she married my father. She was 17. He was in his twenties. But my grandmother and grandfather allowed their MINOR daughter to marry my father. They have been married for over 50 years, btw

My parents too actually....but 17 and 20's are a bit different than 17 and 50's! However, JMHO, but I so stand by it. My parents are still married too btw. 43 years~
Doug is a creeper...nothing would and will change my mind. Creep! OH! My parents didn't have to get married either. 17.5 and 24.

Also, I might be in the minority, but I do like Shayne (sp?) and Nik. Why? I have no idea! Maybe because Shayne seems concerned about her fellow housemates. Simon recently came out and said that even though the cameras didn't show it, when Alex was speaking of finding her father dead, Courtney sat there stone faced.
