Shahs of Sunset

At first I didn't care for this show. I found the characters to be too shallow. Plus I'm just a bit burned out on all these kinds of shows and didn't have it in me to add another to the list of those I watch.

I gave it a chance, and tuned in for bits and pieces as the season went on and actually really started to like the characters - and the show. What I find most appealing is the comaraderie of the cast. They have a genuine and deep friendship that will last a life time. I also like how open and honest the characters are about real and important issues such as:
- Raza's grandmother disowning him because of his non-Jewish mother and his father's abandonment as a result and subsequent turn-around
- MJ's degrading mother
- MJ's weight issues
- Anger issues (can't recall th girl's name)
- Sexism
- Religious issues
etc.

I find the dialogue about sexism both fascinating and healthy. The women don't want to be submissive in their relationships, but many men in the Persion culture want them to be. Persians are not alone. I think this is a good show for tv. It will spark dialogue on important issues in a light way.

The characters aren't nearly as shallow as I initially thought. In fact, given the genuine strength of their bond, I'd say they are less shallow than many. I've done a 180. I'm still burned out and can only do bits and pieces of most them anymore, but I would like the show to come back for a 2nd season.

I agree. I think the editing must have been pretty heavy handed on that first episode, because as the personalities fleshed out they became more likeable. I wonder, though, how many viewers watched the first episode and never came back? The only reason I watched the second one is that I hadn't gotten around to deleting it from my queue.

What's with GG and her anger issues. She knows she has them , she has seen a therapist, and she still gets mad at the drop of a hat. MJ looks a hot mess,she shouldnt drink. The amount he spent on a champagne tasting ( over 8 grand) was ridiculous

The first episode was quirky, not quite interesting, but very pretty women. The main guy, sorry don't know his name, is creepy. I'm not watching but curious what's said here. They sure throw money around, but they're so off, a little dirty looking. How does reality TV find these oddballs?

Season 2 premier was last night, did anyone watch?

I have grown to really like Reza. Sammy is not in this season (thank goodness, I didnt like him) GG is having the same issues, trying to prove she is "over" Mike, and still has anger issues- this time with Asa, who has been kind of a jerk...MJ still having issues with her mom...there is a new girl, Lilli who is portrayed as the Persian Barbie...she seems ok so far.

Some laugh out loud moments for me this ep, glad this show is back.

I think she intends to say something a little different, but in the promos, the new girl says 'everything I do eludes sex appeal'. I think that's funny

where do all these Persians get all of this money? and why is GG a spoiled princess when her sister worked at McD's at 16?

On WWHL, when asked if GG was as mean as she seems on the show, Reza said, "Honestly....she's worse." I don't think it was a joke, either.....not a smile on his face!

Just seems like they would GIVE bathing suits/underwear to models after they wear them. The thought of a thong is beyond gross. What do they do with intimate wear that has been modeled?? I always wondered that.
