Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.' - Isaac Asimov
I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates, who said, "... I drank what?"
When I watch Project Runway, I want to see unique, different, avant garde, aka "art". When I watch Fashion Star, I want to see what sells in the real world. I enjoy both show but for different reasons. I actually appreciate FS for driving home the business end of the industry.
I like the quick pace of the show, but for the finale, they sent three people packing in one shot. Maybe they should cast less people and showcase everyone every episode. That would make it better for me. And they could replace Elle. She's beautiful and sweet but very dull.
I hate when the cops throw me in the back of the squad car ....like they didn’t hear me call shotgun.
Boy (n) : Noise with dirt on it.
Unfortunately they won't dump Elle. She is listed as a producer, so unless she fires herself, it won't happen.![]()

Elle is gorgeous but seems vapid. Plus, the way she stands sort of sideways and turns her head while speaking to the camera drives me bonkers!![]()
I don't mind Elle - would rather a bit vapid than boring as dirt on rocks and wooden like I feel Brooke is.
And Elle can improve I think: She has done better in other spokesmodel/speaking events.
Do think an improvement is to cast fewer people and have them show a line at least for the first two-three weeks. Then after week three the bottom three in sales are up for elimination - then one gets a save and one is eliminated.
I think they should use the actual sales amounts as the determiner for those up for elimination instead of "Do they make a sale or not" each week beacuse then it seems like it goes by popularity. I liked Nizmiro; however, I felt a couple of weeks he should've been in danger and he wasn't over less popular contestants. By letting them show at least three weeks of designs then starting elimination, then this would seem a bit fairer. (It would also work with reducing the contestants down just slightly).
Fashion Star begins its 2nd season tomorrow, Friday 3-8-2013, at 8PM on NBC.

Hopefully they will change the format a bit and show some of the creative process. I think I'd like it a bit more if I felt I got to know the designers a bit better. I'll set the PVR and give it a chance...
