Ya, Rosie's accent is very odd. Hard to watch the show listening to her speak. Plenty of people have come here from London and their accents are not affected.

I agree. I caught a little of the show again last night because I think it's good. Her description of the tubal pregnancy was heartbreaking. My, what a terrible turn of events. I do hope they get the baby they so desperatly want.

In watching it again, I am now of the opinion that she does have some kind of issue with speech and it is not an accent issue. For the life of me, I can't understand why someone who grew up in London would not have a British accent, but I think hers is more than that, so I'm going to stop addressing it. Apparently, she doesn't want to talk about it and that's okay. Apparently, she can't help it so I have to accept it or turn it off. That's my choice I guess. I would think she has read all the comments on line and has taken notice that it is an issue. Perhaps she will open up about it on her own terms.

I've only caught a couple of episodes, and so far I've liked the show. I liked the woman who was learning how to do a formal tea so she could ask Lord Wedgewood to be her baby's godfather. All the lead up was a little silly but his response was so sincere and heartwarming, it made up for it. What an interesting concept, a maternity concierge.

I've learned a lot more from the show that I expected I would. At first, I thought it would be kind of like the Housewives shows, where we would see a bunch of rich women behaving badly, and be able to gawk at how absurd they all are, doing things like having focus groups to name a child. But it seems like Rosie has found ways to really remind people that parenthood focusing on the children, and not all the keeping up with the joneses stuff. It's almost like Supernanny, but without having to listen to the crying kids.

It was heartbreaking. Happily I just read yesterday that Rosie went on to get pregnant on her own and now she has a 2nd little boy.

Some of these people on the show are so over the top. It makes me wonder if they are embellishing some of the "characters".

The word I hear is that all of these reality shows are somewhat scripted. The so called clients are hired to play the roles. It doesn't mean they aren't a real pregnant woman with a husband and some issues, but they are playing a role the show gave them. I don't think this is a secret. Of course, this is my understanding and why I have issues with reality shows, but I could be wrong.

RHFan1205: Thank you for posting that information. I love Rosie and the show. I too went through an ectopic pregnancy and it was almost fatal. I'm so glad they caught her's in time. Getting pregnant after an ectopic is almost impossible and my doctor told me I might as well give up. Three months later I was pregnant with my miracle baby. So happy for her. I don't understand why people want her to address her manner of speech. It's really nobody's business. Barbara Walters amongst other have a strange way of speaking, it's no big deal.

There is a huge segment of the British population who come from a particular region of England who have a British accent that sounds like Rosie's and mimicks/ is similar to a speech impediment. It has the quality of a lisp with other large tongue aspect impediments to it. Rosie most likely comes from this region of England and therefore has that accent mixed with what accent she has picke dup living many years in the south and then now in NY. Her accent is what it is. Even people with known speech impediments it is what it is. You have to realize that it's there, not going to change, and see past it. It's part of who they are but, it's not all there is to them or the most of who they are. There is no reason for her to further acknowledge it or draw further attention to it. IMO

It sure seems so in this case. The Asian woman was way too much. I have a hard time believing she was that unprepared for a baby and then Rosie turns her around with one visiting baby? Never. And if they are that rich why on earth do they have a place so small that an office and nursery have to share a space? The decor resembled newly weds on a budget. Made no sense at all. None.

I thought I remembered reading that she stated that her accent is part British and part Southern because she and her husband lived in Mississippi for years.
