    The Travel Channel

Does anyone else think this channel and its reality shows have great potential but they are totally ruining it? Point is about all the food shows???? WTH? Its the travel channel, NOT the food channel, but yet 80% of the time they are running food shows, Man vs. Food, No Reservations, and about 3 or 4 others that I can't even recall.

And then there's the ghost shows, OK, how is this about travel? I like the ghost shows OK, but not on the TRAVEL channel.

To me the channel should be like the Samantha Brown shows, someone going to different locations checking things out. Checking out vacation destinations, cruise ships, islands, theme parks. Different shows maybe about exotic locations, South Pacific, places where you might not normally go like Alaska, Iceland, whatever, but PLEASE STOP WITH THE FOOD SHOWS!!!!!!

I haven't watched the Travel Channel in quite some time. I don't mind the food shows that much, except that they are all about 8 years old! Also the Vegas shows on the Travel Channel they were great. In 2002! When ever I see one of those, half the time they are showing casinos that don't even exist anymore.

    New programming, please, Travel Channel!

Yes I totally agree, its 90% of the time re-runs of shows that have been on for years......I realize this channel is limited in funds, but come on, you could take one person with a camera and one host to the theme parks to do a show on a dime budget, its not that hard or expensive to do these kind of shows. And the hotels, cruise ships etc., I have no doubt would comp everything just to have you do a show about them, so there wouldn't be any cost here. Not sure what their problem is, but its kind of like the SYFY channel, where most of the shows have nothing to do with science fiction, like SYFY having wrestling? WTH??

I just posted this same complaint on the travel channel boards, hopefully they will listen, I've heard my same complaint from countless others, so I'm quite sure its not just my opinion.

    Good luck with that.

I've tried voicing the same complaints on their facebook page and was literally slammed by all the "fans" who love the nonstop beer and eating shows. So I let the network know that I will no longer be watching since obviously they are catering to an entirely different crowd than those who will actually spend money and will actually be doing the traveling.

Check out Rick Steves and Rudy Maxa on PBS. They can be a little boring and cater to a much older crowd but their insider tips and the camera work of the locations are excellent. Art Wolf is a world famous photographer who also does a travel show and his imagery will take your breath away.

That is definitely their problem, if they won't listen to fans like you and me, then they deserve to fail. I know what I'll do!!!! I'll start a TV channel called Music Videos, yeah!!! But I won't play any music videos, I'll just run reality shows, yeah, or wait, maybe I'll do a channel about science fiction shows and movies and run wrestling shows!! Yeah, oh wait how about a channel about Food, yeah but I'll play music videos on that channel, yeah!!! Sounds absurd right, but that's exactly what is going on, maybe one of the weirdest developments in TV history, i.e channels that are supposed to be about one thing but are about something totally different. If I had a dime for everyone that has complained about MTV no longer showing music videos I would be a rich guy, wonder why these idiotic producers do this stupid stupid stuff???
