    Re: Sister Wives

As I watched the episode, I had the same feelings as many - impressed with her popping out a 9+ pound baby without painkillers or noise, then her offer to be a surrogate for Meri and Kody to have another baby, but then . . .

The more I thought about it, the more disgusted I became. When Robyn said she wanted to talk to Meri "alone," and even made Kody leave the room . . . if this wasn't a "made for TV" moment, why was the production crew allowed to stay during this incredibly private moment when Robyn offered to serve as a surrogate? IMO, Robyn and Kody had planned this (the two who seem the happiest about having every moment of their lives on TV), but Meri did not know until that moment what Robyn was going to say. Kody would not have allowed this "alone" moment unless he knew it would eventually become all about him in some way.

IF the visits to an in vitro specialist, implantation, pregnancy, etc., become the feature of future episodes, we have gone from a series about polygamy to the manipulation of human life for the benefit of making money - kind of like Kate Gosselin. And it wouldn't surprise me if that's exactly what happens. They have plans to buy a cul de sac to build four adjacent houses . . . gotta keep the TLC money coming in somehow. I am officially done with the Browns.

I think you have a point. Money could have something to do with it. They do sign a contract to show their personal life and this was part of it. I think they did not show on air, the conversation when Robyn told Meri she was pregnant though.

I can understand a little though. Without that tv show, I don't know how Kody and his wives could afford to buy housing together like they want. In fact, I'm not sure how they would survive at all. They would probably had to continue to live in their old house and just hope that Kody didn't get arrested.

I found the surrogate offer to be rather bewildering, inasmuch as these women are already mothers to all of the children in the family. Was Robyn offering to have Meri's in vitro fetuses implanted?

Also, although Meri did express sorrow over not having more children, I don't believe she's necessarily longing to be tied down to raising babies again. She's into her career now that her daughter is grown.

The whole scene seemed contrived to me.

In their world having babies is something they are bred to do, I thought it was quite selfless of Robin to offer. I wonder why the other two wives never offered, they've pumped out so many already whats another one?

Did you catch what Meri said about Robyn at one point? She said that she had always wanted a sister wife to be close to and really be like sisters, and she was finally able to do that with Robyn!!!!!! Actually, a slam against the other two. Listen for it and tell me if you took it the way I did.

I heard it and took it the same exact way. I also thought that may be why one of the other 2 (I always get them confused) wasnt so excited about the baby, she isnt that close to Robyn...

Yet another reason it seems scripted.

Selective poverty. We only have money to do the extravagant things we want to do . . . but we can barely pay rent on our 4 houses.

I thought the same thing, but you never know who will pay for it. I discovered on a special that the BATES family who are friends with the Duggars and who are now expecting baby 19 for their family, that the mother is treated FREE by a local OB/GYN who supports her decision to have as many babies as God will send. She even gets hormone injections during the pregnancy since her hormones are low. (She's in her 40's) I know this is true as it came straight from her own mouth on that special.

I suppose the Brown's could have fans who would help them with the procedures.
