A "small town" of 3 million people when you include the suburbs. This Forbes article is less sympathetic:

Andrew Wiederhorn was accused of being at the center of one of the worst pension frauds ever committed by an investment adviser. As much as $160 million was drained from a Portland, Ore. investment company, and investors charged some of the money financed his lavish lifestyle, including renovating his $5 million mansion with such items as a $15,000 bathroom mirror. He pleaded guilty to charges of filing a false tax return and giving an illegal gratuity. Last year he finished his federal sentence after serving nearly 16 months and returned to Portland. Alas, Portland now wants nothing to do with Wiederhorn, 40.

The average person is never going to make money flipping houses. It's just too much work and requires a tremendous amount of construction knowledge and upfront money until the house is refurbished and sold. I found the Montelongo program hitting an unexpected low for Undercover Boss. Even though he was generous at the end to various workers, the premise behind his seminars is nothing more than to take money from people who can least afford it and train them for something they will never succeed at. Most of them can barely scrape up the seminar fee (they weren't able to write a $1,500 check that day to continue on), much less purchase a house itself. (And why was a seminar attendee given money at the end of the show? She was not an employee.) As I watched it, I became more and more concerned at how many people are now aware of these seminars and may sign up for one and waste their money. This episode should never have been included as part of Undercover Boss. Shame on the producers.

My sentiments exactly. There is a reason his seminars get a failing grade from Better Business Bureau. It's a scam, fooling gullible people into investing money they can't afford to ".... be around a multi, multi, multi millionaire", and thinking that will magically rub off on them. He is a sleazeball and should never have been given a platform on Undercover Boss. I'm very disappointed in that show. With all his money he's only gotten pudgy and goofy looking with that hair.

And now that ridiculous couple, The Bickersons, who flip houses in Las Vegas are advertising seminars in my area. Same scam.

I have a friend whose business is flipping houses. She's quite wealthy, but she didn't get there from paying a bunch of money to some shyster running a seminar.

So maybe this show is finally running out is bosses....or at least ones willing to go on TV.

I stopped watching UB a longgg time ago. Numero uno reason, the ridiculous wigs they put on them. I mean WOW. So stupid and over the top.
Also, what person supposedly trying to "win" a reality show would ask such personal questions to the ones training them? It always turns into a personal story by the "unknown" trainer/worker.

    Just too fake-ola for me.

eta: Armando Montelongo? That's that one annoying dude that I used to watch YEARS ago who was on some show (?) flipping houses, right? ACK! I wanted to kick him straight in the balls every episode. He has a stupid late-night infomercial too.. every time I see it, I snarl and flip stations. He REALLY irks me.
