She's already said that she won't ever not see her children on holidays and birthdays, so although I don't want to see the children shunted from pillar to post, I hope Jon is equally forthright about what he will and won't accept.
They need to split everything equally, imo after having made sufficient provision for the children.
I assume she'll hire the best lawyers out there but at the same time, I can't imagine any family court judge granting her the rights that she's seeing in her head. You can't just "play nice" on birthdays and holidays - both parents have the right to spend that time with their kids without the other parent there. She doesn't seem to get that divorce means that someone else will be raising her kids 50% of the time without her interviewing and approving them first.

Everyone in the real world understands this, but I'm not sure Kate has thought this through.

Last night they had a re-run of the family going to Disneyworld when the tups were 3. Does anyone remember the scene with the ice cream? They're all tired, hot, hungry, she gets them ice cream in cups - but then at the last minute freaks out because the ice cream is melted and decides they can only have the ice cream if she feeds them spoonful at a time. The kids were hitting and pushing each other to get at the spoon. It was one of the more cruel moments I've seen on this show, and for what? Because they might spill a few drops, outside at an amusement park? I just don't see how she could stand seeing her own children so miserable like that.

Re: Jon & Kate Plus Eight

This question is off the beaten path, but why did Jen quit the show? I have been wondering that for a while now.
I had read somewhere that other people had quit also due to the things that were going on.

If Jon and Kate have been seperated for two years, then all of this has been nothing but lies. I hope Kate has to explain all of this in court!

She had bibs on the tups last episode and they are 5 now! My mother has taught 3-5 year olds for years and not once do you see a bib in sight with them. With Kate though, heaven forbid we get a stain on one of those outfits.

sorry, but lying on a tv show is MUCH easier, w/ fewer repercussions than lying on a LEGAL document. This also, as others have noted, feeds right into my belief in Jody and her hubby telling the truth and they've been separated for a long time. What a shock that they would have done a show renewing their vows when they were separated. I didn't see the show, but we know it's not a legal proceeding to "renew" the vows. Ratings anyone. I don't think Jon is an angel, but I FULLY believe the marriage has been over emotionally for a long time. It's interesting that Kate checked the box about being separated for two years and now acts like it's such a shock.

Everyone would be all for Jon getting his "fair" share if he were the wife. He stayed home and took care of the little cash cows.

Again, poor kids.

Re: Jon & Kate Plus Eight

I have to say I feel no need to support Kate simply because we're both female and I'm not judging her more harshly because she's female either.

I think most of us are aware of the part editing plays in reality tv, but I think we have also seen enough evidence to dismiss the idea that Kate's a victim of editing.
She strikes me as an uptight, cruel, petty and just thoroughly unpleasant individual.
I don't consider Jon blameless in all this, but I do think accusations of laziness are ludicrous.
Again it's the double standard coming into play. A woman who left her job to become a stay at home mom because her husband's earning potential was greater would not be accused of being lazy, imo.

So sorry fluff: Oh no I'm SURE you wouldn't it's just that imo, the stay at home dad is the last socially acceptable discrimination. I'm not talking about excusing her behavior whatsoever. Maybe I am completely behind times, but I still don't see that men have the freedom of choice to stay home and nurture the kids the way women do. I know that there are lots of reasons that women can't stay home with the kids, but if they can I think society accepts them doing it more than the father doing it. I'd truly like to think I'm wrong about this because it's been my opinion that men have actually become the last acceptable bastion of sex discrimination.

I hope Jon has a real good lawyer cause he is going to need it when dealing with Kate. Can't see her doing joint parenting well. Wouldn't be able to control or have much to say when Jon has the kids. and he better stand up for the holiday, birthday vacations time deals or she will take them all.

I have watch several episodes this season when jon has had the kids in the highchairs, using sippy cups and wearing the bibs. Where is the out rage he does it?
