| Re: Jon & Kate Plus Eight I think he is treated worse. How many paid servants are yelled at like Kate yells at Jon and makes comments on their weight, their use of the English language, their breathing too loud all while clapping their hands in their faces? How about the time that Jon had the nerve to iron his shirt before he asked Kate if she needed anything ironed as they were preparing for their night out? Kate says "oh, what a man you are Jon". Can you imagine if an employer said that to their employee? Or if Jon had said it to Kate? "Oh, what a woman you are Kate!"

| Re: Jon & Kate Plus Eight That ironing situation was so ridiculous. If they both need articles of clothing iron what difference does it make whose gets ironed first? Kate seems to have contempt for males, or at least thinks females should be treated better. The girls get served their foot first, if there aren't enough seats the boys get to sit on the floor. When the girls had their special day, Jon always went along, when the boys had theirs Jon took them alone. Kate "doesn't drive hither, thither and yon." I'm sure she thought it was the height of bad manners for Jon to dare to iron a shirt for himself (but would probably have complained if he'd asked her to do it) yet she seems to think shreiking "HEEEELLLLOOOOOOOO" across a toy store to get her husband's attention and embarassing him is perfectly ok. Kate seems to be a "do as I say, not as I do" kind of person.

| Re: Jon & Kate Plus Eight I think that was the last episode I watched until this season's opening episode. As I watched it, I thought "Don't know how this marriage will last when she thinks nothing of humiliating her husband in public like that." Love? Honor? Cherish? Apparently they mean as much as "'til death us do part" in this marriage. |

| Re: Jon & Kate Plus Eight I was never a regular viewer of the show, but I watched several episodes in the previous years. Last year I stopped because of how Kate treats Jon, and how the children have absolutely no privacy... Anyways, I just want to add one thing. If a husband treated his wife like Kate treats Jon, I'm sure there would be a public outrage; all woman's rights activists would be all over it. It would be called "abuse"; we would hate that husband, and we would want that show off the air. It's too sad that when a woman does the same thing, the show still goes on air. It's a double standard that I cannot stand. |

| Re: Jon & Kate Plus Eight Quote:
I've seen people on other boards suggesting Jon be thrown out of the house without a penny to his name because Kate's the one that makes all the money. I doubt anyone would suggest a stay at home mum should be thrown, penniless out into the street, whether she'd been accused of having an affair or not. I also think some of the criticism Kate gets for working away so much would not be levelled against a father who had the same schedule. Of course I also think a lot of the criticism aimed at Kate is because every single thing she is able to do to make money is as a result of having tups and twins. The claims of "I do everything I do for my kids" ring a little hollow when you're walking around in a different $300 pair of shoes every day which you bought with money you got because of your children. My husband watches the show very rarely. In one of the first episodes he saw Kate cracked Jon around the face and my husband immediately said, "Imagine the outcry if he'd hit her."

Do interviewers ask this a lot? It seems cruel to put that idea into their heads, not that Mady needed prompting, but all the kids were sitting there when she asked her. Quote:

| Re: Jon & Kate Plus Eight Mady reminds me of my daughter, she says exactly what she feels and sometimes I think she is saying for shock value. My daughter is a very strong willed girl and so is Mady. I think Mady will come out of this ok, Cara is the one I worry about. She seems to keep things inside which is really not that healthy, imo.
