| Re: Jon & Kate Plus Eight The Stansels were the latest family trying to climb aboard the multiple baby gravy train. They had a website where they listed the supplies they needed and asked people to donate. They wanted stuff rather than cash, but set up a Paypal acount just in case people were "more comfortable" making cash donations. They also expressed interest in a tv show. Their sextuplets were born on August 5th, at I believe 23 weeks. Four girls, two boys. So far they've announced the deaths of one boy and one girl, Dallin and Kaitlyn. I really, really hope Jon and Kate realize how lucky they are.

It seems like, from reports we've heard later, that Jon and Kate wanted this situation, and now they have a mess on their hands. Eventually, with the backlash, this show will end and they will have screwed-up kids and a lifestyle that they can no longer support. This isn't going to end well. As for when Kate spoke at my church: I don't think I know anyone who went, but I will ask around. My friends wouldn't care about hearing her, but I go to a huge church, so one of them must at least know someone who attended.

- Purchase of $1.3M Wernersville estate - Purchase of Utah condo - Purchase of Rockville condo - Jon's $4M/mo rent on Manhattan apartment - Mortgage on unsold house - Purchase of $60M+ Toyota SUV for Kate - Purchase of Nissan sportscar for Jon - Purchase of BMW for Jon - Associated expenses for all of the above (upkeep, insurance, taxes, etc.) And of course the care and feeding of 8 children. Also, what they earn now is not what they've always been paid for doing the show. They didn't get the big bucks for the show right away, not for the first couple of seasons. And the income from the books would not have occurred until last year. It seems to me if the kids' education was such a high priority for them (since they continue to use it as an excuse to continue the show), it would have been the first thing to check off their list when the money started rolling in, rather than the stuff listed above. They're now in the 5th season of this show, having earned substantial income for the last couple of years, and Jon is still saying they need to do the show for the kids' education? Their mantra is "it's all for the kids" and as long as it's a freebie (like the new kitchen), then those kids will have that kitchen they wanted . But the priority for the money they actually earn is obviously about material things for the parents first, kids education...we'll get around to it.

And Jon pays 4 million dollars a month rent on an apartment? That's a lot of rent. I realize rent in NYC is high....but???? Personally I've never seen a 60 million dollar Toyota. For that price, it should fly, swim and accomodate the president. Oh, and there's always the leather interior. That can cost a bundle. ![]()

| Re: Jon & Kate Plus Eight J. D., you're absolutely right, no $4million rental payments, or $60 million dollar Toyota SUV. It was a typo: I meant $4K (thousand) and $60K. As reported here, the price range for rentals in the Alexandria, where Jon is renting the apartment in Manhattan, is actually $4,800-5,000/month, so the $4,000 estimate may be low. The Alexandria: Jon Gosselin's New York Bachelor Apartment As for the Utah condo, this article is from the Jan. 13 edition of the Park Record: (emphasis added) Quote:

If that is true, I kind of feel sorry for what the teacher had to go through at her school and all around town. I am sure that many parents and co-workers were not too thrilled to read all about this stuff. I looked up on Imdb.com and found out how many shows have aired since TLC picked up this show. The very first show of season one aired on 4/23/07....just slightly over two years ago. In season one, they did 8 shows. In season two, they did 12 shows. In season three, they did 31 shows. In season four, they did 41 shows. So far, for season five, they are up to 11 shows. This number includes this Monday's show which will deal with the kitchen reveal and the vacation down in NC, and an untitled show which will air on Aug. 17th. I agree that the show has been a great way for these two to make a lot of money and enjoy a lifestyle that they otherwise would never be able to afford. However, they have made all of this money off the backs of their children. I only hope there will be money in the end to cover the cost of therapy that will surely be needed when the kids get older. I bet if someone asked the kids what they would like....all these trips, clothes, cars, big house(s)....or two parents who love them and each other and are both living under the same room as they are....they would say they would want their parents over all of the other stuff. If this show is "work" for both Jon and Kate, then it is "work" for the kids as well. If we knew that each of the ten Gosselins were getting 1/10th of the monies brought in by the show, that would be one thing. But considering how the two "adults" in this situation are splurging on a lot of materialistic stuff I doubt that the kids are seeing anywhere near that amount (80% of the take.) I come from a family of seven kids. Mom was a stay-at-home. Dad had a good enough job. We all went to college on loans or scholarship. We lived in a nice-enough house and always had a summer house. Life was good. There are plenty of other large families out there, even today, that don't go on TV to make a living at the expense of their children. Jon and Kate saw a way to make a nice salary but, when all is said and done, what was the real cost for this exposure? If the show ends in the next year or two, how much money will be in the bank for the children down the road? I think they would have to sell the condo in UT, sell the big house, sell the motorcycle, etc. and maybe downsize to a still large enough house (3000-4000 sq. ft.). And Jon may have to unload the NYC pad and Kate the MD pad and move into apts. closer to the kids. And then the two of them can go out and get real jobs and live within their means....just like the rest of us.

| Re: Jon & Kate Plus Eight I'd really love to know who has the best interests of these childrens at heart. Jon gave an interview to "In Touch" where he asserts that the marriage was over last October.......Mere months after they sat those children down and explained to them how they were renewing their vows because they would always be together. The entire last season was filmed with Kate being in one place, Jon in another. Remember the Valentine's Day episode where the excuse was Jon was staying with his mother because she was injured? If the paparazzi hadn't caught on to this, who knows how long they would have tried to dupe their fans. They are nothing more than grifters and accomplish this by turning their children's lives into public fodder. Jon talked to the magazine so now Kate will be appearing on Today on Monday. Is nothing sacred for the better of the children that have made these two think they are more important than they really are? |

| Re: Jon & Kate Plus Eight I would still love to have some sort of exposé come out regarding the whole infertility issue. I still think with her limited knowledge in ob/gyn/infertility, and the availability of these drugs to her, she knew just how to go about producing a litter. I wonder if she ever really was diagnosed with PCOS. ______________________________ ______________________________ ______________________________ ___________ I have always wondered about this too. I would not put it past Kate to have planned all of this. I read somewhere that her mother stated that Kate has always been fascinated with sextuplets. Then there was the comment made by a friend of hers (at a high school reunion, maybe?) that Kate, pregnant at the time, hoped to get at least 4 babies. So when the show begins and Jon and Kate are saying that that they are thrilled with the twins and hoped to have "one" more is a total lie. I believe she knew what she was doing and somehow managed to get a doctor to go along with everything. She definitely had a plan. |
