Doesn't matter what race he is. Males are always assumed to be the oppressor/abuser and when the tables are turned and women are the abuser then people attack the man saying he should have stood up to her etc.

I think the saying people only treat you how you let them applies here...Jon let her get away with it way too long and it destroyed their marriage, IMO

I don't think she is abusing him. Sure, she has temper tantrums and yells at him, but he also has temper tantrums - he just handles them differently. That doesn't make her wrong, it makes her, well, a woman. Men have their physical strength over women, and women only have their wits and volume to protect themselves. That's the way we operate.

I mean, come on - when they are on the interview couch together and she is talking, he sits back so she can't see him and rolls his eyes and makes fun of what she says. And, in turn, she tells him to stop breathing funny, etc. I call that kind of crap a draw. No one is winning that one.

I can see in Kate's eyes and face that she really does love John. Obviously that has withered lately, but how can they not love each other? They have 8 kids together. Of course it's not going to be daisies and rainbows all the time. That's no excuse for what he has been doing. Girlfriend or not - his behavior as a married man (and a public one at that) has been despicable.

He has no right to act like he does, girlfriend or not. An honest married man does not do those things. I believe he needs to suck it up and make the marriage work - at least until the kids are gone. There will still be plenty of single bimbos out there to drive his fast car and do whatever else it is they do.

The "girlfriend" is a bad person in my eyes. She doesn't have enough respect for herself or any other woman enough to stay away from this married man.

Come on, Jon and Kate - get it together. How many times have I heard them promise the kids they will "be together forever". However, I don't think it was a lie, I don't think the marriage was a sham, I think they were sincere when they said and did those things - but they also let go of it too soon.

Ok, I'm done ranting for now - just had to get all of that off my chest.

My Mom once said to me that "the best gift you can give your children is to never diminish the other parent in your children's eyes". Kate has emasculated Jon since the series began and she is still the one who has run to whoever will pad her outsretched hand to not only speak ill of her children's father, but to display her children's private pain for all the world to see. If Jon had affairs that Kate didn't know about....Shame on him but I find it incredibly hard to believe that this marriage was a strong one and that Kate was blindsided by anything. She ran to People magazine and sold her sob story to them while claiming to have the best interests of her children at heart. Even non-televised couples who are divorcing know not to air their dirty laundry for the sake of the children yet this woman shares it all to the highest bidder.

I agree with you, Bunny. I just have a hard time feeling that Jon and Kate went into this with the intention of getting rich, and certainly not to the extent they are. I don't know much about Jon and his past, but knowing that Kate was raised in a low-income household, this is all new to her. I see her acting as the "new rich" who has no idea what to do or how to act. I don't think she has a bad heart or even bad intentions. Sure, she's gone way overboard, and I think the whole thing has blown up so hugely that she doesn't know how to handle it.

Of course I'm saying this on specualtion, because I would think someone behind the scenes would have set her straight by now. On the other hand, those around her may be encouraging her behavior for ratings and whatnot. I know she's not the innocent bystander, and Jon isn't either. This "thing" got too big for either of them to handle - and it tore apart their marriage. which is tearing apart the family, and thus the kids. When I look at either one of them now, they just both look so sad.

I can't imagine having anything less confusing than having a revolving door on the house where I live, as a tot, with mom and dad slipping in an out. It all seems disconcerting.

I do agree about her not being concerned about the kids (well, except for their clothes) while she is out "making a living". I don't know if either Kate nor Jon know how to fix that.

If that applies that means every woman that is abused in anyway basically deserves to be treated that way because they "let" their significant other do it to them.
