This is the press release issued at the time the TAP accounts were established in 2005, to celebrate the tups' first birthday. Note that it was Lt. Governor Knoll, not Rendell, who created the accounts

I know that all parents think about these milestones, especially how they are going to provide their children with a college education. For Kate and Jonathan, I’m sure they think about this often.

That is why, for my gift to the Gosselin Family on this very special occasion, I am opening accounts for all eight of the Gosselin children through the Tuition Account Program, which I had a hand in creating when I served as Pennsylvania State Treasurer.

Contributions to these accounts will accrue throughout the children’s lives and be available to them once it comes time to attend college.

If you would like to make a contribution to the Gosselin Family’s TAP account, you can do so by making your check payable to “TAP 529,” writing “Gosselin” in the memo portion of the check, and sending your contributions to: Gosselin Sextuplets and Twins Accounts, TAP Bureau, 218 Finance Building, Harrisburg, PA 17120. The state came out and said that when the six were first born accounts were set up but that no one had donated and within a short time the accounts were closed.

I remember this too but can't find a citation. I suppose if you're really curious you can call the 800 number shown in the press release.

We know that Jon and Kate are splitting the week for spending time with the kids. Kate: Mon-Thurs. Jon: Fri-Sun. I haven't seen anything that defines who gets what holiday, but if a holiday occurs during one or the other's assigned days, they'd have to decide how both of them would participate. They have both said they want to spend holidays together with the kids.

Time will tell, but I doubt it. Kate is a very selfish woman, the only way she will allow Jon share in on the holiday with the kids is if the cameras are rolling or if the paps are nearby.

In the July 6 edition of Life&Style magazine, both Jon and Kate say the kids are their No. 1 priority. Jon says, "We will always love our kids…we will come together for our kids," and I think it's fair to say that would include holidays.

I think a lot of us would feel better if someone came forward and said something about the college accounts. I think I remember one of those FAQ shows from season 3 maybe where they both sat on the couch and said that there were no college accounts in place. Who the heck are they using as a financial advisor anyway???

To think the two of them are running around buying new cars/toys such as ATVs right and left, going for Starbucks on a daily basis, weekly tanning, mani/pedis, hair appts, spa treatments, and all those other grown-up things rather than putting money aside for the kids, irks me to no end. (Oh yeah, don't forget the new kitchen we've yet to see. Or the big house too.) They really didn't need that big of a place. They could have gotten a nice house for half that price that would be bigger than the old E'town house. They certainly are not making use of the 20+ acres when they hang out on the driveway all the time!

I would hate to hear ten years down the road that the kids had no college accounts. I know it is really none of our business, but there was once a tuition program set in place (by the lt. gov. of PA) then withdrawn or whatever and they have answered questions about it on the show.....so it has been brought up. They have no reason NOT to have set up some kind of funds for the kids.

But it will get interesting when Jon wants his young girlfriend to spend the holiday with him and the kids, and by default with Kate also. Or vice versa. Divorce is a hard thing. These two couldn't make a marriage work, why does everyone think they will be able to make a divorce work? It will get ugly.

I still think the Independance day fireworks "show" on the driveway was for media attention. 20 acres would seem to have an area where you wouldn't be all out in the view of the camera crews like they seem to be. In fact - they spend a lot of time in that driveway.

Divorce is a hard thing. These two couldn't make a marriage work, why does everyone think they will be able to make a divorce work? It will get ugly.

I agree so very much. They can't get along with each other now....yikes the divorce will be a barnburner!

I find it funny that Kate said that Jon has a lot of anger and she doesn't know why....gee Kate I bet TLC has some film footage to clear up that unsolved mystery.
