Re: Jon & Kate Plus Eight

Comment about doing fireworks in day time. A lot of people with small kids do their fireworks in day time here on the 4th because it doesn't get really dark until 10ish or a little later. So instead of keeping the kids up many people just play with them in the day time. I play with mine in the day time too.

Re: Jon & Kate Plus Eight

As for the comment about why would Kate be in attendance on Jon's "day". I believe she stated quite loudly that she would have the kids every single holiday. I can only assume that would include Independance day, Labor Day, President's Day, MLK Day, Flag Day, and all the other important events that kids must not observe without Mommy.

If a Kate supporter says, "What about college" I may open a vein. If Mady and Cara go to college at the same time and all the sextuplets go at the same time they will have eight kids in college and they will have financial aid coming out of their ears. Even if only four were in college there would lots of aid. And what is wrong with working through college? And hand me down clothes or thrift store clothes that don't match? And living in a nice house (their previous home) with modest vacations?

This is my first time posting ever--I just like reading but this topic of the Gosselin sextuplets' college education has gotten me a little fired up. I live in Pennsylvania and our wonderful governor, Ed Rendell, has give all six of these children paid in full college educations. So, no problem there. I am paying for their education as a taxpayer, while I struggle with sending my own two children to college now ( by the way, I get not a penny of aid from this state ). Furthermore, Rendell keeps cutting and cutting programs due to money problems in Pennsylvania and also keeps raising taxes galore or talks about it or the future. It's my opinion that j & k should not accept the free college educations, as they surely can afford to pay for college themselves. I also feel that they should go back over their schedule of speaking engagements at various churches over the past couple of years and give each church a generous donation as reimbursement for the lies they spewed to their congregations.

welcome nodogkisses! As a resident of Pennsylvania you can give us some local scoop on the mighty Gosselin family. I had heard stuff about the college funds but was never sure. And if you guys can afford a McMansion you can afford secondary education. College isn't for everyone and the chance that all eight kids will graduate from college is slim. Some may go to tech school or a trade school...who knows. (And why do I care?)

Kate needs to learn that a judge will tell her which holidays she can spend with her kids and which ones she won't be with her kids. If Jon is nice enough to extend her an invite, fine, but if not well then she will learn the hard way. And yes that is sad but that is the reality of divorce with kids.

So God's bright light could shine upon them for all to see! Why did they have to be in the front yard? Oh yeah...so they could be photographed playing nice for the cameras.

Re: Jon & Kate Plus Eight

I've heard about these college funds over and over, but it was not my understanding they were fully funded. It was more that they were set up and anyone - the parents or any nice person who wished to donate - could do so. Does anyone have more information?

And I do agree that with so many kids going to college at once (assuming it really happens), they should be getting all kinds of credits. In suburban Maryland (outside of Washington, D.C.) there was a set of septuplets (?) born maybe 25 years ago. When the time came for college, Salisbury State University in Maryland offered them all a scholarship, but they ALL had to attend. One of the children declined for some reason. I don't recall what happened. I'm pretty sure they would be out of school by now.

I think when the Maryland kids were younger, the mother went to a job outside the home, and the dad stayed home. I don't recall the name of the family; there were occasional articles in "The Wash. Post" about them as they were born, got their driver's licenses, etc.

Re: Jon & Kate Plus Eight

When the "Tups" were born there was a "donate to" link on the states website that was intended to help with college expenses. No one ever donated so the link was removed shortly after it was set up.
How do we know that July 4th was Jons day with the kids? I don't see him all that involved anyways. From the picture I see him walking away with one of the twins trying to chase after him. At least Kate is grumpily holding sparklers. (holding in a way to make it look as if the sparklers are her middle finger to the paps )

Re: Jon & Kate Plus Eight

As far as I'm concerned there is absolutely no reason these children should be assured of college educations just because they happened to be a part of some freak medical experiment gone wrong. Their parents made the choice to have 8 children, and therefore need to accept the consequences of those decisions. We are all born into our situations and that means some of us will have more opportunities in life than others. This is not communism whereby everyone gets an equal share of the pot. The Gosselin's have already been very shrewd in financially gaining from their children and have their own decisions to make on whether or not they will use that money to send their children to college. If not, then the children will have to get jobs and pay their way through like everyone else whose parents don't pay. There is absolutely no reason why they should be guaranteed a free ride just because their parents had fertility treatments.

Second that. I have 2 kids in college and I don't know that we'll make it.

Funny but spot on at the same time.

The Gosselins have received, received, received, but I have never heard of them giving. With their new $1.5 million estate, they should give every penny they received for their kids' college educations back to the state. Mr. Rendell should never - ever - have given them a dime to begin with.

Also, the way Kate gloms on to money and fame - at the expense of her own family and friends - leads me to believe that the lack of charity they've shown is due to her greediness rather than his. Until now, Jon has followed Kate's lead on everything. I imagine this is no exception (glad Jon is finally standing up for himself).

Just speculation, but it's what I'm going with for now.

Re: Jon & Kate Plus Eight

I believe Jon truly loved Kate in the beginning. Kate saw a way to make china dolls...she berated him every chance she got. That HELLO at toys are us would have gotten me a divorce decree faster than anything, then all the comments in the interview chair...the stop breathing, the "we don't buy things with out coupons" the I could kill you comments...It would take someone with a LOT of self control not to just slap her silly...Jon learned how to ignore it, but it seems those comments and attitude got worse and worse...Jon knew it and finally had enough

Clearly he loves his kids and is very good with them. He alone has been the primary care giver and love giver. Kate screams at them and bosses them around. Jon loves them, comforts them when they are hurt and is the only one who ever bathed them.

When "hannah pooped in hannas underwears" Kate clearly didn't know how to bath her and paniced because Jon wasn't there to help her bathe her own daughter.

Kate can cry all she wants about Jon, but she brought it on herself!

We really don't, however there was a People magazine article where she was quoted as saying Jon was willing to share the day. So I highly doubt there is any judgement out there over holidays it was brought up that they were willing to share the day.

I really hope they can decide to work things out and reconcile. The arrangment they have that the kids will stay in the house and they will take turns living in it will probably not work. Jon and Kate will each have to maintain their own home plus maintain the McMansion. That will get very expensive.

Oh well.....
