Jon & Kate Plus Eight

None of the superficial trappings on Jon & Kate's life bother me. They've had success - in a manner many people disagree with, apparently, but also in a manner not many people have an opportunity for themselves - and their lifestyle and personal style have evolved with their larger bank account, as has the lifestyle of many people I've known who've become more successful as time goes on. I have no problem with any of that.

What bothers me is that Kate is always chewing gum on camera.

I have no problem w/ wealth creation. I actually admire it. I have a HUGE issue, however, w/ exploiting your children to do so. Children deserve privacy and freedom and to actually have a childhood rather than having it leveraged, packaged and sold to the highest bidder.

No children should bear the burden of being the breadwinners for their family. There are plenty of honest ways to make an excellent living in this Country that don’t involve burdening the backs of your innocent, defenseless, minor offspring.

And if these poor excuses for parents are incapable of mastering any of those self sufficient options for wealth creation, they darn well should have stopped procreating after two children rather than creating a child slave labor camp.

I agree they did the show for financial security....but why did they need such a large amount of security? Kate was/is an RN and they make good coin. A nurse and an low to mid-level IT person wouldn't make enough money to support 8 kids. Think about the grocery bill, food bill, health and dental bills, and so on. They would have found a way, I'm sure, but this show made it so they didn't have to struggle.

By now, I'm sure they have college for all 8 of them paid for several times over. They don't need to make any more money. Or, if they do, they should give back the way people gave to them for so long. That's another thing that bugs me about all this. I haven't seen the Gosselin's give back in a meaningful way which is extremely offensive given all that people have given to them over the years.

Again, I can't help but blame Kate for this. She wouldn't even let her sister-in-law draw a salary on the show. She won't give a dime to anyone.

AS A woman, one thing I do NOT find any fault in Kate for taking a donation of is a free tummy tuck after carry 2 sets of multiples. I'd have done it in a heart beat.

AT the TIME, ( we've all gotten to know the now VERY vain KATE) kate did not seem very Vain or even overly concerned about her looks. If you can remember that it was JON who teased her that her stomach looked like "jowls of a dog " of something like that. HE also used to joke/tease that he didn't know she was a brunette or that she would cut off all her long hair that she had when they were married, and had he known that he may not have "said I do" something like that. (but you know these jokes had deeper meaning to them - like hey I'd find you more attractive if.....)

So come on ladies, back THEN when Kate was still a normal housewife, in love with her husband, the father of her 8 kids. And they didn't even have their full TV show yet. Just their 2 "specials". I totally believe she took the free offer so she could look "good" again physically for Jon. JON actually IMO was an @ss for saying those things about her tummy on TV. Sure she laughed about it, but come on. It's no secret she was on the inside, as she didn't have her pre-pregnancy body back and wondered if she ever would! That surgery was done for him.

I also have to say that yes I think they are both at fault for the demise of the their marriage. And I was a J&K fan from Season 1&2 when you could tell they were in love still.
And I'm not a very big Kate fan as of late - BUT I sympathize for Kate for these reasons.
~ Those picture's of Jon and his gf and him partying way back in the early spring started cropping up before the last season ended.
~AND THEN just before this season started there were more pictures and video's of Jon and his GF all over the place.
~NOt classy. Your marriage was NOT over yet Jon!!! You could not wait, at least for your children's SAKE, to get with your new lady friend until you separate from their Mother?

Bottom Line: Jon cheated on her, he can deny it, but come on. The public wasn't born yesterday! There are rumor's(like Kate and her BG Steve) and there are Jon and this 23 yr old school teacher! it's all but been confirmed by pictures and videos. Come on Jon, just you've been caught out in public and way too many times with the SAME above mentioned woman, EVEN IN UTAH at the same resort snowboard together. Oh I suppose you just ran into each other there right?! Jon until this separation, would have had no reason to be spending time with that one woman. In fact Jona married man should never have been out with this woman in public when his marriage is rocky. AND especially NOT away on public vacations with this specific woman who isn't his wife, or partying with ONE specific woman that ISN"T his wife. WHEN YOU KNOW THE PAPARAZZI IS WATCHING YOU DOOFUS!!! Think about your kids much?

Kate has you there Jon. And I wil not buy the, "well Kate drove me to cheat excuse". What are you 5 yrs old? You are a grown man with 8 kids to think about. Do you really want to lose their respect when they find out years from now you cheated on their Mother? YOu can say no I didn't cheat but it will be awfully easy for Jon if this 23 yr old all of a sudden pops up as his new GF he'd like the kids to meet!

As for Kate cheating with her BodyGuard Steve? That right now is just rumour to me until I actually see some photos or some harder evidence. Neither of which we've seen. SO far he's been with her while she travels. WEll he's her personal bodyguard so that can be explained (bit of a lame explanation, but it does NOT mean they are having an affair. They still could be. I"m not ruling it out.) If they are then you can bet it was LONG after Jon started his and it was caused because Kate needed comforting and turned to where she found it. Again not saying I condone it,If it indeed turns out to be true. Which right now I am not sure if it is.

On Last week's "Houses & Big Change's" episode My Husband watched it with me and he thought Jon came off like a bratty teenage father who got roped into a marriage at age 16 and now wants to "go sow his wild oats" or something. Did you notice that he said that he most importantly wants to make Himself happy,and then umm errrr yeah then the kids and then he fumbled and said err I mean I of course I want my kids to be happy above anything else. But it's important for me to be happy too. You know what buddy, I only have 2 kids. And lot s of days I'd LOVE to have this or that but I am a parent and a spouse 1st and 2nd. NOw I know that since My Husband thinks of himself as a father 1st and a Spouse 2nd, then voila we are both taken care of. That's how a good marriage SHOULD WORK. OUr marriage is much less than perfect but our kids know we love each other and love them.
I just think JOn sounded like "ok this was fun I've tried being the dad and husband, now I'd like to party and be young again since I missed my party days cause I got married & had kids young" TOUGH! Lots, in fact TONS of Men marry young, have kids young and they are man enough to stay faithful to their wives, stick around to father their children full time AND don't cheat on their wives at the first sign of trouble. I've always seen Jon be a wonderful Dad on the show. SO I think I think he will miss that part more than he realizes cause he can't go back now. He's a part time dad now. And when the kids are teems, then woah boy. They can get ugly with who they want to visit or not. I'm sure at one point or another a few of them will take it out at one of them.

I just had hoped that they fully realize what 8 not so little faces they themselves are going to have to "FACE" 8-10 yrs from now.

I don't know about that, I know plenty of "real world" people that have had kids and you would never know from looking at their bodies. Me on the other hand, I would take the free tummy tuck too and I've only had 2!

I agree. If they could both start a legit business without utilizing their kids as the "thing" they are selling and they came into wealth like that no big deal. There are lots of parents out there with more than one kid that do make honest livings doing blue collar work. It's not as cushy of a life and certainly not with all the "needs" like spas, Disneyland, trips to the crayola factory etc. But they make their living without pimping their children out to the highest bidder.

Absolutely! I guess I'd assumed/hoped the Gosselins were doing this but just weren't being public about it. After all, giving back is usually the first thing someone will do when they've been on the receiving end and later find themselves in a position to help someone else. However, considering how the Gosselins don't seem to do anything privately anymore, and all we've seen are instances of giving away comp'd items, they do appear to be missing a great opportunity to give generously themselves.

So, are you saying that he should stay in a loveless marriage just because of the kids? That doesn't help anyone, especially the kids.
