| Re: Jon & Kate Plus Eight This whole story saddens me. I endured a divorce with a young child and it is definitely no walk in the park. Despite how Kate treated Jon, at one time she was much in love and he will always be the father of her children. The same is true of him. They need to stop reiterating that they will be there for the children and be there. I have not heard of any serious attempt to save the marriage when it began to flounder. What a shame, because in the end, it is all about the children and no child of divorce goes unscathed. It will be very difficult for them to watch these early shows and then to watch as their world crumbles. I cannot truly criticize Jon or Kate. They are human and flawed like most of mankind. |

![]() Like most infidelities involving people in the media, nothing good ever comes from it for the parties involved....in this case, I hope the opposite is true for the sake of the kids. It's about time!! ![]()

| Re: Jon & Kate Plus Eight does anyone remember the Dilley Sextuplets? Diane Sawyer did an interview with the family when they were babies and then checked in now and again to find out how they were etc... The last segment I saw on them, well two actually, they were turning 16 and seemed very well adjusted without all the trappings of TLC following them around. Their parents worked (or at least one did) at all times and I don't mean either running a computer from a closet or speaking engagements where they tell everyone how wonderful they are. They worked it all out without perks, freebies, etc.... The other time I saw them it was on Food Network where the competition was for the bakers to make them a birthday cake which reflected all of their personalities. It was actually quite fun to watch.

..Difference is probably the parents were not eager to make money on their childrens lives. Lets go back .....waaay back in time....no tv......Circus was the big deal when it came to town..PT Barnum would love this ..would Kate put them on the block...just doing it for the kids!!!! Only a couple hours a night....but it would be JUST for their welfare and future...!!!![]() | |

| Re: Jon & Kate Plus Eight I think the Dionne quintuplets might be closer to J&K than the Dilleys, although Jon and Kate haven't nearly touched the exploitation those Dionne girls endured. |

| Re: Jon & Kate Plus Eight Did anyone notice that when the boards were all in agreement that Maddy was a very Mad young girl....looked like she had some personality problems with her anger and they way she treated the others...and didn't have many friends.....Well...I think Kate put a stop to keeping the cameras on Maddy so much...I'll bet she has a lot more to do with editing as the children get older. But, I do love these 8 kids and I wish it would be more about them than about the expensive trips and expensive toys they can now have....I would not be bored to watch more of what the kids have to say...Like give them a paint brush and let them paint the inside of the houses all alone...or have them do any project with a supervisor but have Kate stay in the house and lets just watch the kids...more like the little people do...The parents are not in each frame on that show... |

From what I understand alot of their "appearances" were mandated by the Canadian Government at the time and there wasn't the abundance of t.v. shows like now. No offense to any Canadians on here. I could very well be off the mark only referencing what I remember reading.....Back to the Dilley reference, my point was that the parents tried to give them as normal of a life as they could. (granted having sextuplets will get heads turning that's for sure)

| Re: Jon & Kate Plus Eight The parents of the Dionne quints were not well off at all. Ontario's child protection (at the time) took custody and started the whole appearance thing. The Dionne's won custody back but they kept the kids on show and lived off of their money. But the government started their exploitation at the time. I was interested in their story for a long time and more so after my sister had quads (with no fertility treatments). |
