Re: The Real Housewives of Orange County

So is the little "bow-teek" where Kara is working also product placement? I bet they asked for someone to be placed there so they could get on teevee. Think the sales shot up? That whole scene was silly. Wow, Kara can actually work! Her big contribution to society: "Which dress would you show to a girl going to Vegas for her bachlorette party?"

What a contrast to hearing about Brianna helping people in the hospital and seeing her after her shift.

I swear if I hear Vicki say one more time "I've worked hard and I reap the rewards...." I'm going to scream!

Did they do multiple shots showing the name and logo of the boutique? If so, it very likely is product placement. If not, then it's just her going to work. I didn't pay attention to that one. The product placement gigs are usually very obvious -- people who don't seem to go together having a meal, when the name of the place is flashed on the screen multiple times, the random shopping sprees where they claim they go there all the time, but are obviously unfamiliair with the store, etc. The multiple close-ups on the store or restaurant sign is the dead givewaway.

So many things to diss ....

Vicki: Is it just me, or has she gotten much, much worse this year about control? She is downright rude to new people, and trying to impose a "be seen but not heard" rule on them just shows how she's set herself up as queen bee to the series.

That control freak is absolutely out of control!!

After seeing the energy in the other Housewives series, I am a little tired of these old California raisins.
Gretchen is a refreshing change, but they counter her youth with that old hard looking Lynne.
Vicky makes my face hurt just looking at hers and Jeana looks so worn out.

I have to add that I turn when Kara is on camera. She is so freakin obnoxious! Eww!

Lynne bugs me as much as Quinn used to, but for different reasons. Her story is boring, and she's kind of clueless. Oh wait, maybe it's for the same reasons after all...

Really didn't need to see Jo's low-rent music video. After her criminally bad spinoff show, I kind of hoped we'd heard the last from her.
That was THE worst!!
Poor OLD Lynn.
She should have spared herself and her family the embarassment. She needs to go to one of the botox parties, STAT!!

Vicki's friends should take up a collection and buy her "a friend".

I would guess that the moment that they'd covered enough of a "see what you can do with products from this great store" moment, everyone laughed, and went on with their day.

I agree about the product placement aspect of that bit. What I can't understand is how anyone would volunteer to be filmed doing that bit. They have young children to think about. Okay, maybe right now, those kids are not watching the series, but they will eventually.

They could have easily filmed Tamra and her friend going into the shop, note the storefront, see some of the merchandise all around, see them pointing and giggling at some of that stuff and watch them walk out of the store holding bags so that the store's logo is plain to see. That way, WE could have figured out that Tamra and Simon were going to have a hot time in the old town that night......we didn't need to see "Bow-chicka-wow-wow" strut her stuff and the leering Somin.

Sorry about your retinas, MissNomer.

All of us have damaged retinas from watching some of this stuff. Maybe they can "product place" some eye specialist we can visit or an attorney so we can all sue!

This is nothing but speculation on my part, but it is entirely possible that Bravo offers them financial bonuses for each of the product placement "pieces" that each woman participates in. If that's the case, that's a valid answer to why they'd agree. And I do think that your point about the kids is a very good one. On the flip side, by the time that the kids are old enough to see and understand it, I think its safe to assume that the kids will have a pretty good idea that theirparents engage in such activities. Sure, no kid wants to see or know the details, but the assumptions are there, and if the kids don't want to know the details, they don't have to watch eventually.
