Now, I'm pretty sure Big Poppa isn't providing her income, she's supported from the $ of her past husband. And... does NeNe have a job? I'm not sure, but if she doesn't, she has no right speaking of being jobless and living a lavish lifestyle.
All of these women would be on the streets if it weren't for their husbands' money, who are they trying to kid.
It used to be scandalous if the wife 'had' to work.

Now it seems nearly so if the wife does not.

That is one thing I can definitely agree with. I've only watched a couple of times, but I probably trust Sheree and Lisa the least. Lisa may look sweet but I don't think she is at all.

Not that a woman can't do both but most women, who have careers, don't call themselves housewives. I say "kudos" to any housewife who starts a career or at least tries while married because those who don't, find themselves in a bad place if the marriage breaks up. Do these women make as much money as the men in their lives? NO. The only "Housewives" who make more money than their spouses are(I think, but please correct me , if I'm wrong) Vickie and Jeanna (maybe not her anymore) from OC and everyone has picked on Vickie for being a workaholic and too driven. (I just remembered Kandi) See what being a successful woman gets you! I can't take ANY of these "housewives" seriously when they talk about designing jewelry or clothing. Do they realize that people actually go to college to learn design? Lynn (OC)and Laurie (OC) think that they can glue crystals onto a leather band and WOW they're designers! Sheree and Lisa draw a few crummy pictures and now they're clothing designers! It's so funny! Oh yeah and now Kim's a wig designer. She may put her name on a line from an existing company but she knows NOTHING about how a wig is constructed. Plenty of women have helped put a husband through college. Most of the time it's the husband that ends up with a degree, not the wife. They've gone to work, cleaned the house and taken care of the kids during tough times and end up with nothing for themselves! What I would like to see is some of these women go back to school instead of trying to take "short cuts" trying to use these shows to get their names out there. For now, if the agreement they have with their spouses is that the husband supports them then fine. Nothing wrong with that but it just isn't a wise choice.
Now you sound like Rameena - except she has her True Skin or Tru-Jesus or whatever (I guess she's a chemist in her spare time).

Whorie's daughter also has 'started' a 'skin care line.' (Remember Whorie trashing her business plan because she's such a whizz at biz?)

I honestly thought you had to know about dermatology or chemistry to make cosmetics. (Or you hire a poor nameless drudge to do it for you while you put your name on the jar it comes in and take the credit for yourself.)

Sheree doesn't know how to do diddly with fabric except wear it and merely has vision (i.e., she can have somebody else design a dress, ooh and ahh over it, and have somebody else sew it up). I loved how she dismissed the idea that a designer has to have a knowledge of the craft of couture and the art of design.

Not that it's her fault - when all these people are busy using her name and fame (infame?) to get rich. She's being enabled in her dream world. What does it matter who gets the schmatte to the store right?

The only 'Housewives' who seem to have a real job are Ickie and Jeanna; Bethenny and Alex; Dina; and Lisa. The 'jobs' of the others seems to involve being seen to spend and getting boob jobs.

For some reason when I see the Atlanta women I'm not all giggly excited the way the Jersey women had me; I just feel sad. They really behave atrociously, and do so much damage to each other. (Except the men, the men are all real gentlemen it seems. Except Delongated Dwight. I could have done just as well not to have him talk about his ... personal enhancement. The man's a weirdo.)

What are their kids going to think when they grow up and realize what mummy was like? Swearing like fishwives in public, using language that might make a sailor blush, engaging in physical fights, all in front of complete strangers (millions of us).

But again what really makes me sad is the things they say to each other. I don't care how hard-bitten you are - it can't be water off a duck's back to be called a whore, trash box, hooker, trailer trash, f*cking liar.

At some point, after everyone's left, alone with their thoughts before drifting off to sleep, when they don't have to keep up the bravado, don't these women wonder how they got to this point that they're behaving worse than their children? And don't they maybe think that sure some of it is the other person's fault, but some is down their very own failings?

Or it's all fake and after the hair pulling incident Nene, Kim and Sharee all went back to the restaurant for dessert.

OC was all light and sun until Gretchen came. NY took a while to get really nasty and even then it was all verbal. NJ was comical with the drama. But even Theresa at her worse laid hands on Danielle. Bethenny never smaked Kelly across the chops. TamRAAA never backhanded Gretchen.

But here we are already witness to an assault. But these women are just appalling and at the end of the day I'm sad to be watching them and sad that it makes for great television. I keep hoping for some sun and light but just getting this dreary spectacle.

re: 1 - she did say that he had a majority of these kids when he was like 19/20 . . . . you know what they say abt being young, dumb, and full of . . . . i don't think that should be the sole criteria opinions of him are based on. now if he's a crappy person on top of the 6 kids/4 mommas, that's a whole other story.

re: 3 - i think that's pretty inappropriate too, but then i think the way kim interacts with her kids is pretty inappropriate. very danielle-esque.

I clearly missed it too........
Weird is very kind and I'm pretty certain I couldn't stomach a whole show of his either. I'm having a hard enough time watching the women on here.

Re: The Real Housewives of Atlanta

Dwight being weird is putting it mildly, he's such a drama queen and I just can't stomach him!
There was something about Nene tonight on the gossip TV shows, she was a 'private' dancer back in the day. She admits it and has no regrets, she was supporting her son. Well, whatever you have to do....

And I get your point about the importance of a woman being able to support herself, and I honestly don't take offense at the comment about how it can be unwise for a wife to totally depend on her husband for financial support - that's good, sound advice; BUT (and this is surely one of those things where I read into a comment based on my perspective) as a stay-at-home-mom I just feel compelled to stress that providing "support" in a marriage means a lot of things (not just financial) - especially when raising children.
I'm not ,by any means, trying to put down "real" housewives. It is a lot of work and they certainly earn their keep. The problem is that it doesn't qualify them for anything else. If the marriage breaks up they are out of work. Alimony and child support don't last forever. There is also the emotional part of it. Betty Broderick comes to mind. Put her husband through medical school. Pretty, perfect wife and soccer mom. Husband dumps her for the new assistant. She never knew what hit her! She ended up killing them! Now most wives don't go to that extreme but that's how depressed women feel if their husband dumps them for a new model. Most women don't live the extreme lifestyles that these women do. These women aren't just trying to survive like most people. They are trying to find ways to make money that will give them a millionaire lifestyle with absolutely NO qualifications. Short cut to being a singer, short cut to being a designer.
