Viva Hollywood!

its on VH1 & it's mind blowing. did anybody see it? omg... the ending of the premiere episode made cry.

and so now i cant stop fake slapping my roomate because ive got telenovela fever.

wow. i never knew latin soaps were so reminiscent of the 1980's nightime soaps like Dynasty & Dallas. big hair, shoulder pads, and uber-bitchy over the top characters.

maria conchita alonso is the host & she makes the final decision & she can be both funny, motherly, and bitchy. overall i like this show. ive already set my tivo for a season pass. ooh i cant WAIT for the next episode. charo is going to be on! remember her? lolz!

Re: Viva Hollywood!

i saw this - from the over acting to the nominating people by giving them the 'death' card in confession to finding out your eliminated by way of watching a video and seeing if it is your character is the one who dies, this show is great. i love at the end when Maria Conchita Alonzo says 'you are dead' and then in English 'you must leave the casa forever' - it cracks me up.

Re: Viva Hollywood!

I accidently saw this after watching Celebrity Fit Club. Initially I thought it would be very poorly done and badly edited. It was much better than I thought it would be. I like how they picked the other contestents for the Duela and the final line was priceless. Having a really good exit line is very hard to come up with and a good one is priceless. I did like how the show incorporates the different aspects of Latin culture. Who is that astrologer? Channeling Liberace much? The over acting was priceless. Surprisingly I thought Roselyn (sp) did the best as far as acting, very believable. I truly thought that Roberto(right person??) should have been in the Duela simply for saying cut before the director did. I must say that 99% of these "actors" have the ego but not the talent. I do wish Jaime had stayed for an extra episode as she did better (acting in the Duela) than Janet. I do feel that her shape was a strike against her. If she was 20lbs less and tight and toned she would still be in the house. Harsh but true. I think the panel said it well; how would an agent look at (physically) Jaime vs Janet. Still Janet did a much better job overacting in Spanish than barely emoting in English.

I am must be pretty braindead today as I used priceless as least 3 times in my comments.

Its kind of interesting to see Vinci from 8th and Ocean on the show. I never thought I'd see anyone from that show again.

Re: Viva Hollywood!

I caught the show today and I loved the campiness of it all. I wasn't crazy about the actual Duel, I felt like they should have done an "act-off" of some kind instead of pleading to stay. I don't know how faithful I can stay to watchng it with my full reality tv dance card, but I will catch it as often as I can.

The plead to stay was the "act-off". If you ever watch telenovelas the blond one (Janet) who stayed nailed it. I'm sure next week will be a totally different challenge, like why the other person needs to leave.

Roseny reminds me of Selena.

I almost fell out of my chair when Maria Conchita Alonso announced the $100,000 prize and Kalain said "One thousand hundred dollars."

Vinci needs to be thrown out a window.

I love the show. It should be great fun.

Re: Viva Hollywood!

I LOVE this show! I kind of wonder if there are any latin people at all behind the casting and editing, because I do feel like it's not really putting the best light on latinos, I get that's it's a funny reality show, but I do think that they kind of played to some stereotypes, and I wonder if all of these huge latin celebrities knew what kind of show they were going to be on, or if they thought it would be more of a "giving latin actors a chance" sort of show... either way it's a LOT of fun and I had a customer that I was helping today with a very thick cuban accent and the entire time she was talking to me I wanted to slap her in the face, grab her by her hair, and throw her on the floor... lol I can't believe that Vinci is BACK, what ever happened to 8th and ocean, I thought it got good ratings and was going to return?! And I agree, Roseny is a ringer for Selena!

Re: Viva Hollywood!

I just caught the show last night...I love it. It is so campy and over the top that you can't help but love it. I like how they resolve who should leave the house.

I thought from the beginning that Janet was going to be the first one to leave. She alienated herself from everyone at the house almost from the moment she arrived.

I hope Giselle & Vinci, get tossed out next, they are so irritating.

Re: Viva Hollywood!

Episode 2: Sin of Lust

What really surprised me is that for a group of actors they, espeically the women where so weird about showing a bit of skin and lets not even go into the acts of passion. If someone takes off their clothes in a yoga session what is that any of your business, why does it bother you. And Giselle being so unprofessional with her lesbian scenes with Janet. Do we really have to see you stick out your tongue and gag. Please that is so 9 yrs old. Also the reactions over doing body shots and calling it porn. Just don't do it. Also don't be so judgemental if someone else is OK with it. It does not make it porn.

What really blew me is Vinci's reaction over doing the gay love scene with 'Berto. BTW 'Berto so deserved to win that challenge. What sent up red flags for me is that after Berto won the challenge he decided to share it with Vinci, Vinci hugged Berto when before hugging Berto was a gay thing to do. What a faker Vinci is. He basically threw a tantrum and got the control he wanted. Was it all calculated. Initally I don't think so as he was reacting from the gut but the longer the tantrum took I think he used it to manipulate everyone. Vinci changed the script, he changed how Berto could touch him. It was Vinci in control and manipulating things to his way. Vinci already demonstrated his control issues with yelling cut in last weeks episode. He already has his Diva moments down but is he really that good an actor? Really, no. But he needs to prove himself first, get some status before he throws any more tantrums. Seriously, Enrique or Geovanni would have had no problem doing that scene with Berto, in fact it would have been nice to see either or both try it. Can anyone imagine Alexy and Berto in a love scene together? That would have been hilarious.

Re: Viva Hollywood!

I actually got the vibe that Vinci is secretly gay and that's why he threw a big fit because it's something he's in denial with--especially after his reaction at dinner when one of the guys played a gay character in a play. Honestly. What a baby. If you're comfortable with your sexuality then doing a short little gay scene shouldn't get you all bent out of shape.
