Re: Step It Up and Dance (Bravo)

(Spoilers) A big mistake occurred tonight! The judges had their choice of eliminating Michael, the hip hop dancer/gay porn star and Oscar who has tons of technique and can just about learn anything (He's been on the road in West Side Story and some other musical and Michael has been dancing on a sheet of plywood in Times Square and---well we won't mention where else he's been "working". And they SAVED Michael and eliminated Oscar. The guest choreographer was some woman who choreographed "Damn Yankees" for an amateur theatre group that Jason Alexander supports. It was really funny watching "George Costanza" giving advice to the dancers. You, know what my gran always used to say, "You can't trust a fat choreographer" All present company excluded of course.

The craziness of keeping Michael over Oscar aside, Jason Alexander has quite a bit of street cred in Broadway circles. He's quite a competent tapper.

I didn't like the challenge very much with the brooms. I felt like that group had less of an advantage because the brooms were nowhere near as noisy or fun as the trash cans.

I'm not sure about this last challenge. I'm glad they did something a bit more technical but it still somehow felt very amateurish and since I'm not a dancer, I have no idea why. I just wish they would SHOW more of the actual dancing! My somewhat love for Miguel has long faded away, he is just a very nasty person....mean and just spiteful or something. Now I'm rooting for Michelle or Nick. Cody gets on my nerves somehow.

Onto to the whole Oscar or Michael thing....here's the deal with Oscar, he is what? 31? And one would assume he has spent his whole life training and dancing, so why is it so difficult for him to move? It's like he has the technical know-how but lacks the ability to convey the emotion. Yes, he danced TECHNICALLY better than Michael but he was a beat off most of the time and he just didn't sell it while Michael did and I think that was what got him sent home. Also Michael just seems to have more raw potential and with some training could be very good. Oscar has had that training and isn't as good.

One thing that bugs me to no end about the men on this show....they whine so much! Whine...cry...whimper...compla in... whine.. I just want to smack them.

I was painful watching Oscar, Michael and Miquel dance their routine not once but twice. I was surprised that Oscar danced so poorly for having as much training and professional experience as he does. I did think the judges were going to keep Oscar over Michael because Oscar had the training. Oh well.

I do find is rather amusing that practically every episode the choreographers are telling to male dancers to "man up".

As far as the winning groups final routines. Michelle and Cody were amazing. Janelle and Nick seemed rather flat and force. While I like Janelle and she has an amazing body. She seems as if she should lose about 10lbs to be able to compete in dance auditions as opposed to being a street hip hop dancer. She also needs to work on her flexibility and lines and being more feminine as she did not sell the role of seductress to me. I felt as if she was physically overpowering Nick and bascially pushing him around the stage, like an Amazon warrior raping a poor village lad.

You just brought up an interesting point. Why do they keep telling the guys to man up but don't tell Janelle to girl up? She dances more like a man than Miguel and Oscar do!

They warned her about it during both of the hip hop challenges. I think she's finally "getting it" now that she's got to dance up to Mochi's level. I noticed softer arms in the Lola bit.

Did anyone notice Janelle's knee wrap last week? I didn't see her favoring the leg, but there's something going on. I hope she doesn't suffer like Natalie did during the last 4 weeks of SYTYCD, as I'd like to see both girls make it to the final 4.

Huh, I missed the comments! I'm glad though because at least they aren't just picking on the guys who need to "man" up like some other shows do. (Then again I do tend to not really pay attention when the judges talk because they never have anything all that constructive or interesting to say.....)

I didn't notice the knee wrap, I'm sure if it was anything major they would have made a big deal about it (the producers) to up the drama quota.

BAH I'm losing interest in this show and I really wanted to like it but between the bad judges and the horrible camara work? Yeah..not much left to enjoy. I just wish they would show more dancing because the last dances are always so beautiful!

Any time you have men who refer to themselves, and each other as "girls" and "sisters", you are probably going to have masculinity issues when they dance, walk, or do most anything else.

I was glad to see Michael kept over that bitchy Oscar. I think Michael can learn better technique, but what can you do with Oscar's inability to dance on beat? Like they said, Oscar has a problem with musicality. Oscar's timing was a disaster!

Why Cody did dance technically better than Nick did, I must say that I enjoyed Nick's performance a lot better than Cody's. I think it was Cody's bumbling acting and such. It's like he knew how to act when a girl is flirting with him who he thinks is way out of his league lol. And I liked Mochi better than Cody did... what's his face is right. Cody can pick his nose on stage and the judges would faun over him.
