I thought it also funny how the cameras stayed on the glasses till you saw him pick up his and fill it up. Just another little detail I thought amusing.

I noticed that too, I guess that is part of the story Ramona should have told Avery about having a career and never counting on a man. Also, never ever pour him a drink!

I don't mind that she told Avery she should have a way to support herself, but the part about letting a guy know you could make it on your own, would make him straighten up...that kind of thinking really bugs me.

I think Alex and Simon should pair up with Tamra and and Simon from the OC show. They both have a love of birthday parties on boats, pretending they have more money than they actually do, lavish gifts likely paid for by Bravo, and serious inferiority complexes.

Re: The Real Housewives of New York City

LuAnn's son Noel? Oy Vey the breakdancing...how tragic was that to watch.

Bethenny was sofa king annoying when badgering her boyfriend in front of the cameras.
He seems very private, and was not thrilled to have her mentioning their relationship issues, and that is why he said, "We'll talk about it later."
Go to the sperm bank, adopt, become a foster mom...or better yet..what's so bad about being a step mom to her boyfriend's kids if they marry? There is more than way to be a mom, or have a family.

I love Jill.

Alex and Simon are phony and look pasty.

Ramona is okay. I love the little girl who went with Ramona and Avery to the salon. When she started saying, "Shake what you got, Ramona" and then imitated the way her mom and dad dance? Funny.
They should bring that little girl back for more episodes, because she is witty and has a lively personality...unlike Avery.

Yep, birkins are purses!

You are right on the $9000 tag at boutique retail, but I think it's pretty difficult to find a genuine bag on eBay for much less than retail, unless they are fakes with stolen pictures, or are bags that have seen some serious use. There are exceptions if you don't insist on a particular color or size, and happen along at the right time. Most genuine bags are well over retail on eBay, though.

I don't know of a rent-a-bag program that does Birkins, unless it's something specifically in Manhattan where you literally have to have your "titanium amex" on file in case you lose or damage it. The BBoS service doesn't do them.

FWIW, both Bethenny's and Jill's bags were real. I just think for Bethenny it was probably a significant purchase - and I think she's got the connections to buy one from the boutique (NYC is one of the most difficult markets, too much customer competition). On the other hand, I wouldn't be surprised if both Jill and LuAnn have more than a few of them with no lists necessary.

Despite the "jetsetting lifestyle", by contrast, I don't think Alex has either the money or the connections to get her hands on one, but I imagine both she and Simon would probably gladly hand over little Gaston or Friedrich in order to get one. I am actually tempted to imagine them fighting over who gets to carry it - Simon of course claiming he's just being gallant.

Purse anthropology!

Re: The Real Housewives of New York City

I read that Jill spends $40,000 a year on handbags. I found that interesting. I BELIEVE SHE CARRIES THE REAL THING! I'd love to just go with her when the shops. I know I'd have fun. About ginger, I would get rid of any dog that made a move at my child. Sorry, blood is thicker than water.

I am beginning to like everyone more and more, but I can't find any love for Ramona yet. Maybe it will happen.

Luanne's townhouse is oddly simple in some ways and she is very simple in some ways too. However, I saw the preview where she tells Ramona to make Simon feel welcome--Luanne is very much a lady and a nice one too. No matter what I think of him, Simon is a human being and does not deserve that abuse that Ramona dishes out. I also saw the repeat of the Luca Luca debacle and I am CERTAIN that Ramona screwed Jill out of those front row seats. Look at the body language. GUILTY AS CHARGED!

Re: The Real Housewives of New York City

I've lived in Manhattan and Brooklyn (in that order) for ages, and nothing makes me cringe more than that shack of a house Alex lives in. Would Bravo please stop cutting to that pile of bricks? Cobble Hill is a beautiful brownstone, tree-lined neighborhood. This shack doesn't do the neighborhood, or Brooklyn with it's fabulous housing stock, justice. I cringe at the thought of people thinking this what Brooklyn's about. Oh yeah, Alex and her scary mate are pretty loathsome as well. They should just move to Park Slope and send there kids to PS 321 (one of the best public schools in Brooklyn, as well as all of NYC). Oh, wait - they probably can't afford it. Otherwise they wouldn't have bought the ugliest coop in Cobble Hill.

Re: The Real Housewives of New York City

LOL, Brooklyn Mama. I live in Manhattan and reverse commute to Fort Greene in Brooklyn. We have some beautiful tree-lined brownstones there too.

I didn't notice the Birkin bags. I don't like them.
They seem annoying to carry-heavy and inconvenient. I like something I can put on my shoulder that leaves my hands free.

I would be so annoyed if someone made me go all the way to the river to get on a boat for a lousy cocktail and did not bother to feed me.
I live in Soho, within walking distance of the Hudson (they definitely passed the Statue of Liberty which is on the Hudson/Jersey side) and I would still be quite vexed. Even if the unenthused guests (another good observation someone made here) took cabs, it would not be easy crossing the West Side Highway and walking to Greenwich
to flag one back home. If they were further uptown, say in the '50's near the Intrepid, it is still inconvenient. I went to a big event on the Intrepid in 2002. I had to wait (ALONE!) about 1/2 hour on the Highway before I got a cab. Because I was in heels, I did not even make it to 12th avenue.

My friend had her wedding on a nice ship that sailed around Manhattan. This boat did look pretty expensive to rent-the wood, the couches. But why not pick a private room in the many restaurants that would have been easier to get to.

BTW, there constant use of car service is puzzling. Why don't they just get into a yellow cab? I only use car service when I'm going to Brooklyn at night, or Queens, never to somewhere in Manhattan, unless I'm in an evening gown...and even then...what a waste of time ordering it, waiting for it, etc.

And a lot of people I know, no matter how rich, pride themselves on taking the faster and convenient subways,.

You are right on all counts. Like diamonds, some things make no sense except that you are forensically passionate about them. Does an "F" diamond look different from a "G" diamond? Not really. It's a mental thing, entertainingly reflected in the market with real price tags, but it's also fun.

Husbands do it with cars that are impractical to drive to work.

No kidding. I don't see Ramona in her hookerware taking the subway anytime soon.

OH I forgot to add in my last post - I totally loved Avery's little "Shake what you got, Ramona!" friend ... totally hilarious. That girl has personality. And all those little girls had hair that GLOWED.

Ramona should get Alex into that shop.

Re: The Real Housewives of New York City

Well maybe an F and G diamond do not look much different but a D-E sure looks different than an I! LOL!

I think Ramona could fit right in on the 2,3 express from Times Square to downtown. The "1" would be a lttleto clean-cut as that one gets all the tourists going down to pay their respects at the WYC.

You are so right about Alex going to that hairdresser.

Do these women really think they are that chic that they are "showing off"? They fascinate me. I can not tell exactly what delusions of grandeur they are harboring.
Is Bravo taking their most boring moments in life into the editing room?

I know so many interesting, kind and unusual people here in NYC. Couldn't Bravo find one?

I do like Jill the best, but still...

This whole thing was filmed in 28 days in September. How did Jill's daughter regain all that weight (and then some) so quickly?
