That could be taken as his saying it to Alex (the shot was of the table so you couldn't tell) as in "Should we pay for this?" It could also be taken as his saying it to the table as in - are we finished eating now? Should we pay so we can leave? Then Bobby says something about "Are we getting the check?" which could also be interpreted either way. Given that the editing showed no one, and the sound was bad enough that the subtitled it I think that the editors led us to believe that Simon left Bobby with the check, but it didn't actually happen that way. After all, if it did - wouldnt' Jill have slammed them for it in an interview?

I AM NOT so sure that Jill would slam anyone as much as in induct them into society's manners- society as known by them not real old money blue blood fellowship - which is NOT - I repeat- is not what anyone see in the realms of TV land

There are no "estates" or other titles that go with the title Vicount deLessops. In fact titles in France have been outlawed for years. And if he is now an American, then he would have had to renounce his titles when he became a citizen of the USA.

Dear Christopher : You are absolutely correct, there is not bloodline to her from nobility , and the connection as feeble as it is remarkably is amusingly unimportant not to mention meaningless LOL

Yeah, we got your socialites right here ... or rather, right there, buying a pair of outrageously expensive solar panels.

OMG I am laughing so hard is not even funny THANKS THANKS for the visual

Re: The Real Housewives of New York City

Glad all of your keen eyes caught the lovely trappings of the Cobble Hillbillies. I figured they filmed the scene in the bedroom because it was the nicest of the rooms. Wouldn't you all film in your best room? The wire hanger was a personal favorite.

Pugmum, I must've missed something on her acting resume; I don't know what would bring in royalty checks. But I'm sure she likes the idea of getting "royalties".

Love the theater investigators. Ha. No opera and she gave the wrong theater. Heh, heh. I love me some dumb liars.

You've got me thinking now Pugmom!
Ahhh, but it's wearable art.

And another thing, why would they have a futon, and a ratty looking one at that? I know having small kids wrecks your furniture, but a futon for such a "power couple"?

I couldn't take my eyes off the wire hanger or the tie. Yep, pretty classy if you ask me. I guess a girl can only dream of being so high classed!

Re: The Real Housewives of New York City

I have never lived in Europe, so perhaps anyone who has can give more insight to this than I can, but from travelling, conversations with a friend of mine who lives in Germany, and exposure from pop culture, I've always been of the impression that Europeans don't put as much emphasis on decorating and home furnishings as Americans do. Is that the case? If so, it could explain some of the plainness of Alex and Simon's home. Again, Irecognize it was a fictional account, but even in the movie The Queen I remember being struck at how boring and plain Tony Blair's house was protrayed as being. (his family's private home - not 10 Downing Street). If they are trying to subscribe to that "we're so much cooler than most New Yorkers -- we're far more European" mindset, it would make sense that they'd take such an approach to decorating.

Additionally, they come across as a couple who are constantly trying to network -- not build friendships. So it would stand to reason that they don't entertain at home very often -- they're always out on the prowl for impressive people they need to latch on to. So if they've got limited financial resources compared to the lifestyle they're trying to project, then they'd use those funds on things that people would notice - clothing and entertainment - instead of a home that no one would ever see.
