Re: The Real Housewives of New York City

My take on Alex and Simon. Alex has been a SAHM since the birth of their first son. Because of his income and her small royalty checks, they are rather simple people that read the right mags to stay up on the name dropping game.

Now as their kids are reaching school age, they are being asked "Which school?" Realizing that they did NOT financially plan to spend 50K a year to send a 3 yr old to pre-school and since they do not have the income to "name drop" a school, Alex calls her agent.

The agents response is this show. SO they pack up the small house in the "burbs" And rent the "townhouse" that we see each week.

Alex is playing a part that her agent got for her! The drama queen that he is, hubby is enjoying his 15 minutes!
When the cameras are off they write and rehearse their own script.

Strange that Alex cannot clean the paint splatters off the french doors. The failed porn producer seems not to mind living in such trashy surroundings.Poor Alex, in truth she will implode one day and tell Von Pippin where to go!! He dresses like a pimp, and tries to dress her he wants her to look nice only because it makes him look better. This couple are sooo creepy. Cruise boat royalty!!!

I think "Shall we ask for the check" is a perfectly appropriate way to say "Are we done here?" Certainly far more classy then saying "Well I've had enough of talking to you people - can we go now?"

Since the kids they will be going to school with are the same as they...I don't think they will have a problem.

Re: The Real Housewives of New York City

Pugmum, I think that is a great theory. Especially because whenever I watch Alex interact with any other humans, she seems like she is acting. Trying to say the right thing in the right way. It's like she is on a job interview trying to sell herself, when underneath it all she is an empty shell who only cares only about "connections" instead of actual people. Even her kids, she is so concerned about that Francois is speaking French or where he is going to school, but she needs to just let him be a kid. ITA about the apartment, too, not very impressive for cultured "Eurpoean" people like Alex and Simon. Simon is so creepy, too, that suit he wore to tour the school - OK.

No matter what kind of school it is, snooty snoot or lowly public, there is a pecking order and a system of discrimination in their little society. Kids quietly listen to their parents, digest the info, put their heads together, and then go after certain other kids.

I can't think of a communal situation in which something like that would not occur.

Re: The Real Housewives of New York City

I always wondered why there were no photos or pictures on the wall, despite the fact they don't collect art. And their bedroom looks thrown together Ikea style. I know they aren't as "well off" as the others, but if you can spend, "more than 5 figures, but less than 6" on wardrobe, you can afford some decor other than canvas drapes and Walmart quality wrought iron candle holders.
You've got me thinking now Pugmom!

I'm liking Bethenny more all the time. I just wish she wouldn't pressure the little bald guy so much. He looks so uncomfortable iin front of the cameras. Maybe he's more dynamic and interesting in private. I hope so for Bethenny's sake.
I go the same impression. Jason doesn't want to discuss their personal life on camera. I kept hoping that she would get it, but it came off as uncomfortable.
