Very funny!

I rewatched the dinner scene between Alex and Simon and Jill and Bobby this weekend. While I think the editors intended to give the impression tha Simon was handing the check off to Bobby, I don't think the editing supports that. Simon said "Shall we ask for the check?" That could be taken as his saying it to Alex (the shot was of the table so you couldn't tell) as in "Should we pay for this?" It could also be taken as his saying it to the table as in - are we finished eating now? Should we pay so we can leave? Then Bobby says something about "Are we getting the check?" which could also be interpreted either way. Given that the editing showed no one, and the sound was bad enough that the subtitled it I think that the editors led us to believe that Simon left Bobby with the check, but it didn't actually happen that way. After all, if it did - wouldnt' Jill have slammed them for it in an interview?

I wholeheartedly agree that the part where Alex was telling Simon she'd been invited to a "shoowwwwwwwww" was very awkward. The both of them rather remind me of characters in a Christopher Guest movie ... they are exaggerated and self-conscious in very quirky ways. Anyone remember the audition scene in "Waiting for Guffman" where the "Lundts of Blaine" sing "Midnight at the Oasis"? That's Alex and Simon.

On the other hand, LuAnn channels another scene where the Town's founder is being interviewed: "It's definitely tough to be a Faban. I mean, I certainly know how the Kennedys must feel." (Luann posing with the family's royal ancestor breakfast-nook portrait coincidentally propped up there in the background ....

True, but Alex and Simon are the ones who invited Bobby and Jill out. Proper etiquette would dictate that Simon pick up the bill. Of course who says they know anything about etiquette???

I understand that. But my point was that the editing does not really show us who picked up the check. It may very well have been Simon. Ithink ti was intended to make it look like Bobby did. But the only thing I could know for sure from watching that scene the way it was edited is that the four of them did not skip out on the check.

"Her Royal Ancestor???" Who is she kidding. First of all, it would be her husband's ancestor not hers, and secondly The title is vicount which is about as low as you can go on the old "royal ancestor" totem pole. The title was given to "my husband, the count's" great, great grandfather for his work on "attempting" to build the Suez and Panama canels (he failed at both.) There are no "estates" or other titles that go with the title Vicount deLessops. In fact titles in France have been outlawed for years. And if he is now an American, then he would have had to renounce his titles when he became a citizen of the USA.

There was a question on "Jeopardy" the other night about the Suez and Panama canals. Guess what? As Know-it-all-misprounces-cue-cards blathered on, he gave credit to those canals to someone else. I thought. Oh no, Alex, that's not true, just ask the Countess on RHNY. I add that with the caveat that Mr. Trebek let Los Angeles pass as the state capitol of California; I always believed the Sacramento rumor. Anyone?

The most famous Count I can remember is Count Chocula. No way they could ever compete with that.

And didn't she say "The Count"'s family gave the Statue of Liberty to New York? Has that been confirmed?

My cat is named Countess Olivia. The countess was to make up for the fact that we thought she was a boy and when we took him in to have him neuterd, well, the shame of it all!!!
