I watched this week's episode again this morning too and was struck by how seldom Alex and Simon mention Johann. Everything is all about how Francois sings in Latin (Which although I'm sure is cute, is really just parroting words. It's not like he's conjugating verbs or something.) and deserves to be in a fabulous school. Johann is not that much younger than Francois, so I'm assuming that whatever school F gets into will also be J's school someday, yet we never hear that Alex and Simon are looking for a school for the boys, it's only about Francois. I hope Johann goes all Jan Brady on them someday with, "Francois, Francois, Francois...................."

| Re: The Real Housewives of New York City Thank heaven I DVR'd this episode while I was watching it. I was interrupted so many times that I had to go back and watch everything twice. This show is SO all in the details. I love it. I was also surprised when Luann seemed to really get into Alex at the dinner. She may indeed regret pursuing that friendship, although as we see more and more of Alex, I'm starting to soften on Alex a little bit. The first episode had her appearing quite haughty. By this episode, I'm finding her a bit more naive and misguided than snotty. She is really quite star-struck, and I hate to say it, but lead dog Luann may enjoy that for a while, as long as Alex understands who wears the collar in that friendship. I had to laugh at the language-speaking at the dinner table. Bethenny was so right, it was so totally a pissing contest. I would have liked to see how much more Italian both of them knew. Just from what what they showed, I didn't hear anything far afield of the tourist phrasebooks. Alex's hair looked particularly atrocious at the dinner. Bethenny, too ... the two of them always look like they have either greasy or wet hair. I can't tell which. I loved the royal portait in LuAnn's breakfast nook. I am trying hard not to believe that they didn't put that there on purpose because they knew it would get a lot of camera time. The preschool tour was funny - I was loving that they were going on and on about how you can tell a New York City kid from any other kid just by their confidence. I was so waiting to see this extraordinary preschool that turns out all these little geniuses, and was laughing - yeah, right. Floor mats with alphabet, check. "WELCOME!" sign on the wall, check. Then, the first time I saw the episode, I saw the bank vaults just as the phone rang, and I heard Simon say "it's not every school with bank vaults for the children" (or something), and I thought, oh my God, I stand corrected - this insane school has bank vaults so that the kids can, what, learn how to properly operate their safe deposit boxes for later????? Where's the model kindergarten stock exchange?! I was vastly relieved upon a 2nd viewing to see that the school is just in an old bank building. PHEW. I was beginning to be worried, and possibly happy that so many people in Manhattan end up being ridiculously geocentric. Fine with me. I was going to say, good thing they're already on an island: just burn the bridges and fill the tunnels. But, the vaults are apparently just decor. That's a little cute. Poor Bethenny. That was awkward. Ramona .... still the worst. Little Avery looks talented, though. Jill .... I like her better every week. I loved her hair on the interviews. Very flattering. |

| Re: The Real Housewives of New York City I can just see old Francois going to school, a product of his pretentious home, behaving in a pretentious manner, and being treated to a "swirly". That just might be worth it!!! ![]() And Latin is not a language that is actually spoken. Spoken languages evolve and change. Latin doesn't, which doesn't mean that it cannot be useful. It's just not a spoken language. Gosh...these people make me want to vomit.

Oh my gosh you got that right it IS in the details and the show moves quickly and it is easy to miss a lot of them ( I get interrupted too!!!!). I watch it on the replay and can't believe what I missed on the first viewing. It is so much fun. That comment about recognizing a NYC schooled child....my DH and I laughed. We live in NYC and that is just CRAP! I agree about your comments on Betheny, Jill etc. I love Jill's hair and you can tell those interviews were filmed at later times and the editing mixes them because the hair goes back and forth!!!!! I pity Alex more than I dislike her. She and Simon are sad cases to me.

| Re: The Real Housewives of New York City I sort of feel bad for Avery because it seems that her tacky mother is really pushing the acting thing when all that little girl wants to do is go to school. |

| Re: The Real Housewives of New York City It's probably a company Black Amex that the hotel provides him with. I'm sure he has to pay it back, but just uses it to show off - I hate this couple!

As per the Jill intercession regarding Claremont -just so all of you know- tours are offered to anyone that ask. The school has a website that display the headmistress letter: Dear Parents, Claremont Prep is an extraordinary place for children to learn, grow, and develop. There is a unique feeling of community and family at Claremont Prep. As the newest independent school in New York City, we are honored and privileged to be able to offer children the opportunity to gain an excellent education as well as help develop life-long learners and good citizens. Applications are currently available for the 2008-2009 school year. We are thrilled to be able to offer a Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade program now, and look forward to adding a 3's Program in the Fall of 2008. The best way to get to know the school and determine if it is the right fit for your family is to come and visit us. The entire staff in the Admissions Office is available to assist you with any questions you may have. Please call us at 212.232.0266, and ask for the Admissions Office. We would be delighted to have you join us for a tour of the school and look forward to introducing you and your family to our family at Claremont Prep. Very truly yours, Dana Haddad Director of Admissions dhaddad@claremontprep.org So the informercial was a set up as the cameras rolled with the school approval, I personally could never send my children -in my right state of mind- to a school that allows cameras in their daily routine - who knows what the crew is all about?- are they all fingerprinted? .......![]()

| Re: The Real Housewives of New York City A show we love to hate, but still await every episode, eh? Some of the characters, we know, like Ramona, who pushes her kid to do something [but Avery did say she would like to try it, so who really knows]. Then there's Alex and Simon-- social climbers who will use anyone and anything to get to the top-- I live in the suburbs (obviously, not Alex's taste), so I've never come across "social climbers". A very annoying, stuck up couple. Their desperation to get their kids to speak a second language is frankly, quite amusing. As a person who speaks 4 languages, believe me, I didn't learn them through hearing words here and there. In order to speak like a native speaker, it's a full time commitment. So far this season, we've only heard those kids-- that too forcefully by their parents-- one or two basic French words. And I doubt that will change anytime soon. I hope all the others housewives separate themselves from this lame couple. |
