Not just her children, but everyone's an annoyance to LaContessa.

The herd should be seen and not heard.

In that regard, I can understand why LuAnn was not just bothered by it being said, but also by it being said in front of her daughter. Both women blew it out of proportion -- but then again, NO ONE on this show can disagree, say so and move on.
Don't forget that just prior to Ramona's comment, LaContessa had basically called Ramona a slut - she said that in 'her world' if people followed Ramona's dating advice they'd get 'a reputation' - implying that Ramona had or should have had such a 'reputation.'

She was totally insufferable to Ramona who should perhaps have known better.

What irritated me was Ramona's going up to LaContessa afterwards and humbly reiterating her apology in a servile whisper. The days of serfdom are over, you know.

And yet, when she's affecting a 'casually elegant air' LaContessa puts her very own dainty elbows on the table in full and flagrant violation of her very own dainty rules.

I think the difference is that LuAnn's comment was about women who date multiple men on multiple nights in general. It was not directed to Ramona recounting her dating days in detail, but rather her idea of what Bethanny should do. Ramona may have seen herself described in the remark, but that would have to have come from her filling in blanks LuAnn left - not what LuAnn specifically said. Ramona's comment on the other hand was very specifically about LuAnn and her marriage.

Ramona seems to be very good at the bowing and scraping. Look how she accepts Kelly's dismissive treatment....willingly. Where is Ramona's dignity? In Rome, Ramona would have been a woman servant to a rich woman who dove after a piece of food or seed that the rich woman had spit out of her mouth and thrown on the floor.

That's very true. Ramona has put herself in those situations on multiple occasions, with Kelly, and with the other women as well. Each time it happens, Ramona comes across as incredibly akward trying so desparately to fit in. At the horse show, they were all talking about how inappropriately she was dressed. When she met Kelly to see the architectural models, she commented immediatley about not being sure what to wear. I think that in some ways, Ramona is as desparate to be accpeted in "higher" circles as Alex is. Then, Ramona tries SO HARD to fit in that she turns people away. If she'd just relax and enjoy being there rather than working so hard to make people think she belongs, they'd probably be much more open and accepting of her.

Re: The Real Housewives of New York City

I had a post all typed out, then I lost it .... sigh.

I think Ramona is happy where she is and I do not see the similarity between her and Silex. She actually has what she says, and Silex is pure pretend.

Ramona gave about 100 more apologies than I would have, especially if someone were yelling over them. LU fired the first shot by implying that Ramona was of lesser moral character than those "In her world ... " Get Over Yourself. Most of Us Have. When Lu pointed out Victoria sitting right there, (and as a mom of teen girls, I caught a huge whiff of mom embarrassment instead of anger/hurt toward Ramona) Ramona did give V an apology and V didn't talk over her. (Put THAT in your book, LU!)

I'm not sure that you lost it. Was it the post that is on the Orange County thread?

Did anyone watch DWTS last night? There was a gal sitting in the audience that looked just like Bethanny. You could see her when it was a shot of Tom by himself promoting Tuesday nights show.

It was Bethanny. It had to be. She had exactly the same mannerisms, continually talked through the show just like Bethanny would, and when she wasn't talking, was staring straight into the camera smiling just like Bethanny would.
