Seems weird to me.
Contacts, it's all about the contacts.

He is soooooo creepy!

You get to a certain age where it's just silly to keep going back to that. What good does it do? If she wants to talk about it non-stop, she should see a therapist!
It is easy to say "get over it" but I feel bad for Bethenny. Remember, she left her home early because she was sent to boarding school and I don't think it was her choice. She obviously is starving for her father's love, acceptance and approval. I think she hangs out with creep guy just so there is a connection to her father. Studies have shown the lack of love and affection in babies and children do much more damage in adults than previously thought. I am surprised that she is not more screwed up than she is, Ramona and Alex seem way more affected. Also, how is she supposed to learn from past mistakes? They weren't her mistakes.

Re: The Real Housewives of New York City

Boo Hoo Hoo. Poor Bethany had to go to a boarding school. Maybe she should look back at her school years and figure out why she was sent there. Bet it was because her parents couldn't stand her whining. My mother was a drunk and dumped me on my grandmother when I was six years old (The best thing she could have done! And I shared a double wide in Arkansas until she died. I have absolutely no desire to get in touch with the woman who gave birth to me (believe me she wasn't no mother) I got on with my life and now am VERY happy.

I looked up the deLessops/statue of liberty connection. deLessops was President of the Franco/American club and at a meeting in NYC or Paris sources are different, he formally presented the statue to the Ambassador from the USA from the French people. He had no other connection to the statue of Liberty. Period. (It wasn't even finished when he did his presentation)

Re: The Real Housewives of New York City

My take on Bethenny is that she respects her dad and would like to be apart of his life.
Her mom on the other hand she doesn't seem to repect at all and doesn't care if she ever sees her again.
Maybe she thinks (knows) her mom did something to cause the breakup of her parents, and feels the dad is holding it against her too. It is odd that the dad is so absent. Bethenny is a very needy person. She comes across as someone who grew up getting shoved aside and clinging to the dream of a happy family. I feel sorry for her too.

That is very in line with the explanation LuAnn gave on the show. She said that her husband's great great grandfather was part of hte committee who presented it to the US.

From everything I read, the Counts Great or Great Great Grandpa was aboard the ship with the man who presented the Statue to the US and that was the only time he was mentioned in everything that I read . I don't recall the other guys name, but I read the speech that he made during the presentation.

Well we know that the Count or Countess would not stretch the truth, for example telling how the Count's family built the Panama Canal.
Try reading about the "The Panama Canal Scandal". When de Lesseps, his son and a number of others faced trial and were found guilty, for bribes and such. The original plans for the canal were nothing but disastrous and weren't working so they walked away from the canal project. Finally the United States revised the plans for the Canal and then built the canal.

Re: The Real Housewives of New York City

I just watched a round of reruns yesterday...I can not put into words how much Simons laugh gives me the creeps..when they meet up at the charity auction and Alex is talking about vibrators...and the other girls look embarrassed...Simon's laugh is so creeeeeepy!

When Alex and Simon are in their back yard calling Bethany on the phone, Simon also gives me the creeps..he stands there listening like a total pervie. He clenches his jaw all the time. I didn't notice it so much before, but now I see where his clenches in almost all conversations. Does Simon look mean to you? He sure does to me!

EWWWW!! He is the BIGGEST creep! That little smirk, his whole demeanor screams CREEP! And, the way Alex talks.....the way she tries to lower her voice when referring to NY Society, or when she says. "Oh, it's always nice to have your picture in the society pages". "Alls" I have to say, is they belong together! Too bad they had to procreate!

Re: The Real Housewives of New York City

What creeped me out was that wink he gave the salesperson at the jewelry store. Gotta give the salesperson credit for keeping a straight face while Simon was listing off types of jewelry that Alex already has and talked about wanting to buy something that would accessorize her Louis Vuitton watch. Eek, he picked out some fugly earrings!

Then, it was funny to see what Bobby gifted Jill with in comparison.
