It would be hard to know what to do - join yourself at your hip to your S.O. like A&S, or go out and dance like a hootchie mama with other men like Ramona.

I think only Jill looked like a happily married woman; The Count was so much gone it seemed like a marriage in name only, A&S were in this wierd stage marriage, Ramona acted like a cat skitting around on sheet ice even when she was around (gorgeous gorgeous oh my god gorgeous) Mario, and Bethenny isn't married to (cute as a button wanna take him home in your purse) Jason.

I just had a hard time really disliking Ramona because she reminded me so much of an aunt of mine from Ronkonkoma and I kept wondering if under that aggression and energy there wasn't a scared person trying to stay safe. She and (sexy sexy) Mario have done one thing good with her daughter at least and we should give her kudos for that.

I wish I could meet Jill - I think Jill'd be fun to hang out with.

LaContessa - I loved how she went from Ms. Manners Marm (on the subject of introductions) to Really Mannered Lady (on the subject of making Simon welcome and at ease).

Bethenny - she needs to do comedy.

I miss the ladies of OC. They seemed so much more naive than this bunch.

In fact, I wish the other 4 would stop trying sooooooo hard to drag Alex and Simon into high society.
My thought was, that won't be happening anymore! The way they all came down on Alex & Simon, my impression was that they were all pissed off at being had, being tricked into associating with people whom they otherwise never would have touched with a 10 foot pole.

I was really surprised at how everyone came down on Alex & Simon for their house ... even LuAnn ... I mean, they were talking about safety issues and priorities, but underneath it, I totally thought I caught an undercurrent of "how dare you pretend to us that you had money and were in our league!"

Hey, I thought it was strange in the first place when Bethenny visited Alex & Simon's place and said she was glad it wasn't Jill or LuAnn seeing the place. I mean, as torn up as it was, it wasn't like there were 50 cats roaming the place and a junker on cement blocks in the yard. Who hasn't gone through renovations? To my mind, it meant that it wasn't just the renovations ... my secret guess was that Bethenny was equally shocked by the fact that even with renovations, Alex & Simon's place was a so-so basement unit in a crummy building in a questionable neighborhood.

I know something like this happened to me. I met a mom in school who had a Chanel Cambon bag and drove a Benz. She invited me over to her house with my daughter for a playdate, and I was floored by how filthy the place was. Cats everywhere, litter boxes uncleaned, dishes in the sink .... and her closet stuffed with handbags and clothes. For the love of God, woman, get a cleaning service! I never looked at her the same way again.

I probably would have had a heart attack if she'd treated me to her nude photo collection as well .....

Alex & Simon, you are toast in NY .... can't think of two more recognizable people in social circles there right now. I'm sure the paparazzi will notice them now ... the new Heidi and Spencer ... LOL

Wow! Just like Paula Prentiss. The same voice too! Good call.

Remember when Simon was saying how they had never used "baby talk" with Frankenmutt? I have heard that baby talk is a very important step in a child's development, not using baby talk may lead to speech impediments. So I guess Simon really does know best...

Oh and when the kid told the examiner, "I am too smart for you!" You could tell his parents are grooming him to be a stuck up socialite (oops, I forgot they are not into social climbing).

Did I actually hear the "Countess" say "ALLS I know..." while defending her dismissal of the driver's handshake gesture?
Wow, somebody had better review the 'quick guide to grammar' section in her "Countess Handbook"!

Re: The Real Housewives of New York City

I wanted to add, I bet Jill in particular was pretty put out by introducing Alex & Simon to Claremont. I am sure now that the show has aired, Jill's friend is probably more than ticked off that they were also "tricked" into showing the place to people who obviously couldn't afford it. As the papers have already reported, this place is crying out for students ... if Franswa ended up in Brooklyn, it was because ultimately the wallet spoke.

I'm sure Claremont's got some 'splaining to do to the parents whose kids are there.

Just another quick anecdote that this situation reminds me of: when I lived in Manhattan in my 20's, I had a roommate who was totally desperate to fit into "society" in New York. She had this grand idea that she would infiltrate the "upper crust" and marry a rich husband this way. She never named the town she was actually from, she would name the rich town 10 miles away; she put on accents. She "adored baroque architecture" and "loved London", though she'd been there only once, on a school trip, when she was like 12.

Well, she ended up meeting this very wealthy girl whose parents were Nassau County money, who kept the girl in this pretty nice Washington Square apartment. My roommate was all totally "my new best friend" with the rich girl, and she was so excited about it, that when the rich girl asked my roommate to go in on a "Hamptons share" with her, my roommate jumped at it. She was squawking about the Hamptons for like three months to anyone who would listen "oh yes, a friend and I have a share in the Hamptons, do you go there?" All the way up until the rich girl, who had signed the lease and put down the deposit, came to my roommate for her share of the balance - at the time, the share was $5,000 a week.

My roommate could never come up with the cash, obviously, the rich girl was furious because it became clear to her that she'd been dealing with a fibbing wannabe the entire time, and it was a big mess.

Like Beth said, it wasn't the fact that the place was torn up. It was the fact that Alex had never mentioned it. If I was having people over I would of given them a heads up. There is also the small thing about them being on a reality show. If my house was like that and I knew it was going to be filmed I would of hired a crew the same day that the contracts were signed.

In Alex's blog on Bravo, she told how part of the house had already been renovated, but that Bravo chose not to show that part, well duh, it wasn't the part the party was taking place in. Yet last night when the girls started in on Alex about her house, she never once said that part of the house had been renovated, I guess she didn't want Bethenny to call her a liar to her face.
