Blink-182, Paula Abdul, and newlywed couple Jessica Simpson and 98 Degrees' Nick Lachey are among the artists who will star in upcoming MTV reality programs.
Blink-182's still-untitled show, set to debut in July, will be about preparing for the band's next album. "American Idol" judge Abdul is developing a reality-show competition for cheerleaders, while MTV has another talent contest in development called "Girl Makes Band," which will have teenage girls teaming up to form a music group. Simpson and Lachey will star in an as-yet-untitled reality show about the first year of their marriage; that show will debut in August.
Other celebrity-driven series that MTV is planning include "When I Was 17," in which stars discuss what they were like at that age. The pilot premieres April 17. "Posse" is a reality show about the entourages of popular artists. Also in development is a new, still-untitled dance-music series hosted by Wade Robson, a former choreographer for 'N Sync and Britney Spears. Tom Green returns to MTV with a talk show premiering June 16, while "Jackass" cast member Bam Margera has a still-untitled reality show in the works.
MTV is also launching a new reality show called "The Scene" about a group of young people who try to fulfill their musical dreams.
