At first, I got mad at Destin for not marrying her and then I remind myself that she's an adult and made the decision to have a child without being married. I guess it wouldn't matter except you could tell that it bothered her when she, Destin and Patti were talking about it and he acted so reluctant. But then why should he get married when he has everything he needs/wants without marrying?? :nono
    (yes, I'm old fashioned)
I had no idea those two had a child together until I saw that previous episode that confirmed that they did indeed, have a child.
I always thought to myself "omg..these two are going to procreate someday?"
But alas, the deed has been done. I feel badly for the child. Only time will tell how horrific of parents Destin and his wife turned out to be.

Just because they look a little kooky doesn't mean they're bad parents. That's really an unfair thing to say. Although, if I remember correctly, they named the poor kid "Sin Halo". Still, I don't think it's fair to base their parenting skills soley on their appearance.

In terms of appearances only, these 2 look as if they could start their on subspecies.

LOL! Actually, on some episodes they come off seeming to be more emotionally balanced and mature than Patti. I guess that's sort of sad.

Sin Halo? That poor kid when he/she starts school.

You're absolutely right...but as I said "only time will tell". Although not everyone may agree with my viewpoints and think they're unfair: IMO: if you sign up to be on a reality TV show..be prepared for people to judge you.
And FYI I think their kid is adorable!

Judging someone's parental skills based only on appearance would be wrong. At the moment, we have two people who don't feel it's necessary to marry before having a child, look extremely different than most people and name their child Sin Halo. So far, it's not looking very good for the kid's chances. but who knows?????

In this day and age, expecting people to marry is, yes, old-fashioned, but it's also a matter between the couple and their private business. Plenty of people get married and divorced every day. Having a marriage certificate doesn't mean that a couple is more committed to each other than a couple that doesn't. They seem to have a committed relationship and, at least from what we see on the show, they treat each other with respect. The color or style of their hair, number of tattoos or piercings has no bearing on their value as a person or merits as a parent. I know plenty of "normal" looking people who are piss poor parents. I have no reason to believe that Destin and Rachel aren't loving, kind people who are raising their son just as well as a couple who looks like they stepped out of an LL Bean catalog.

What we do know is that they are both gainfully employed and probably making a good living and that Destin, at least, as a college degree. If you read their blogs on the Bravo site, they seem to have a loving relationship and they dote on their son. Yes, the kid has an unusual name, but that doesn't make him much different from many other children with parents in creative jobs. Bronx Mowgly, anyone? Dweezil? Apple?

All of this is to say that physical appearance and things that are the private business of a couple have no bearing on their fitness as parents and their value as people.
