I think they need to insert a provision in their contract to go on that show that if you exhibit threatening or violent behavior one time, you will be a one warning. After that, you are OUT. AND your payment for appearnace is prorated and you are not paid for the time you leave. They need to make it hurt the wallet to have to walk out. I think that's why most of them are there anyway. It's not bad money for a month's work.

Back to Stephen, I agree he doesn't need to be in the group with females. He's made some downright hurtful cracks to Amy. The bullet in the head thing was bad enough because it's not his job to go digging through her past, but to throw in the vile porn oral sex crack was way too much. Then he's got his hands on Shelly after the history of how abusive he had been in the Sober House I just don't understand why they let him get away with this crap. He needs help, and I agree his stroke may be a part of his behaviors, but can Amy fairly get treatment with him constantly on her back? The last thing an addict needs is for someone to give them an excuse to play the victim, and Stephen, for now, is giving Amy and excuse.
Amy can't get good therapy nor can the other participants. More than one of them I'm quite sure have some history of abuse of some sort or another. So now they're going to be sitting group with this guy who flys off the handle because he can't get his stuff under control. He's not appropriate for this type of treatment or this level of treatment. But it's all about the money I guess.

I missed the pot shot about her porn stuff. I only caught the bullet in the head pot shot which went well over the line. He should have been removed from that group right there and then. Not just to the table but out of the room with another staff to be dealt with later so group could continue and process. Now Amy gets to be the victim some more, he gets to be the abuser and what about all the others? How many others got any attention in the morning process group because of this debacle? None of them.

And from the looks of it he monopolize future group times too in the preview.

That would imply these shows are being done to benefit the people and not just (mostly) for show.

Remember Rachel Uchitel (sp?) that was on last season? She and Dr. Drew ended up going to Ground Zero to help her find closure with the death of her exfiance? I saw yesterday that she had received a 5 million dollar settlement with Tiger Woods and that she is now giving the money back, because Tiger's attorneys claim she violated the confidenciality provision. They claim part of that breach was appearing on Celeb Rehab. WHAT? She went on Celebrity Rehab with 5 million dollars in the bank. And all she had to do was keep quiet. That is BIZARRE. What's wrong with that girl. She had the money to pay Dr. Drew to help her in private sessions and she could have kept her settlement money. To bizarre.

I don't recall her saying anything about Tiger during Celebrity Rehab. Oh well, maybe now she can write a tell all book, do interviews, etc, and possibly come out of this with even more cash. There's still some interest out there, and with the other women possibly being under a gag order she may be the only one left who can run her mouth.

I remember at the very beginning she or Dr. Drew mentioned something about there are certain topics they can't talk about and it was obvious they meant that specific topic. But I didn't watch that season all the way through either. But from I did watch they danced well around that topic while trying to address her sex and relationship issues.

I didn't see her talk about Tiger either, but that was claimed by Tiger's attorneys and she was giving the money back, so there must be something we don't know. I'll see if I can confirm the story with a link.

I'm pretty sure Dr. Drew is a real doctor. I think he is actually a medical doctor who concentrates in Psychiatry and Substance Abuse. I'll find a link to confirm.

Yes, he is a medical doctor who concentrates in Psychiatry. Here's a link. He's quite accomplished.

He specialized in and is certified in internal medicine and addiction medicine. He is not certified in psychiatry. Certification in addiction medicine is kind of a fluff certification. It's hardly rigorous and encompassing of what one should know to be counselor in the field though it does demonstrate some knowledge so that an MD is capable of working effectively in the field of medicine with a patient with addiction issues. So while he might be a capable MD in internal medicine he is not a drug counselor which is what he often presents himself as.

From Wiki: Pinsky is also Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California. This is hardly a fluff background.

Not every doctor matches well with every patient. Some of the patients who have completed Celebrity Rehab have been very grateful for his work, others not. Seems to mirror real life to me and support the advice to shop around for a counselor or program. No one size fits all prescription to cure addiction.

For the people who participate some have gone on for the money and exposure, and been helped; some to get help and it didn't take; and some to get help and it took. Some went on for money and exposure and that is all they got from it. What you get out of life is what you put into it. I do like that the staff encourages participates to continue to get help with their addiction and they are clear that the program is not sufficient for that goal. I do think that it does achieve its goal of highlighting the dark side of drug use and addiction among celebrities instead of romanticizing it.
