Drew has some extremely skewed ethics. Any ethical practitioner would have referred many of these individuals to a higher, more appropriate level of care than what he was able to offer on this show. Regardless of if these people were paid by producers he was treating them as a practitioner in that facility. That is unethical of him to do that knowing these people are not placed appropriately.

They deserved to be placed appropriately. It would be like me taking a suicidal patient is saying well since the producers paid for this you're only going to get the 3 day hospital stay instead of what you probably will need. It's unethical.

I can see your point about the celebs needing a higher level of care, however, this is my speclation after watching every season of that show. The great majority of them come in not only because of the money, but because they have been begged to come in to try to save their life. It appears they are there on very thin ice and could leave at any time and many do. (They are pleaded with to return.) It appears that one of the things that convinces them to stay is the short term of the stay. I can easily see that if a long term, more intensive program were to be offered, they would BOLT. The money would not even be enough to keep them. So, I guess you have to decide is it better to get some treatment (even though it's not intensive enough) or no treatment.

Also, at least it's a few weeks that the rehab clinic can at least keep them clean and alive. If not there, they would be lying in a bed or ditch close to overdosing or worse.

I'm not defending all of Dr. Drew's actions, but on this issue, I can kinda see where he is coming from. If the patient is serious and interested, he pairs him up with a good mentor who provides support and guidance. I have seen that on their reunion shows.

Having worked in clinical settings with addicts regardless on if that is what they are willing to do it is completely unethical to take them in knowing that is not the level of care that they need. It's a money making operation then pure and simple. If it comes out that patients need a higher level of care they are discharge with staff advice to a higher level of care period.

Amy Fisher doesn't look anything like she used to. I would never have recognized her if they hadn't introduced her first...

    Why is she in rehab?

Oh, remember Steven Addler the drummer from Guns and Roses? He was on several seasons ago. He has a book out. I think it's sort of like a biography.

Supposedly she drinks too much "because" she has to dance and do porn to support herself. I've not follower her career (obviously since I had no idea what she looked like) but I guess times were tough and her happy life she found when she got married and stuff went away.

I thought Amy was doing porn right out of jail? I seem to recall her just hopping into nude magazines and movies right out of the gate.

Oh god...what a crew he has this season. I saw several of the admissions including another guy who used to be on BAYWATCH ( hasn't there already been some from that show?) He looks like he is a serious addict and DOES NOT BELONG there. Adler looks he is still in a bad way. Although I did not seen him yet, my TVGUIDE said that Eric Roberts will be back. I hope not since he looked like he was together after getting that long term saop opera deal

I wish for the more serious addicts they would have them go to a "First Aid" detox then appear on the show after some of the worst is over. It's not right that they are all on different levels and expected to tolerate abuse at the hands of another patient.
