I haven't watched a Miss America pagent since I was a kid. My memory parades 52 confident, drop dead beauties in front of it, not a group of overly made up, politically antique, kids who lack self esteem, common sense and a good hair cut.
When I was young I actually thought the states searched for the beauty to represent them. I am older and wiser now and have learned that each of these girls has come up through the pagent ranks from Miss Kroger as a career choice. Where pagent entering leads reamains a mystery and I am fine with that. Best not to know.
Getting make overs is a grand idea, they certainly need it. Is it possible in this day and age that young women are out of touch with current hair styles and make up application? How did that sweet, plain little thing become Miss Vermont? Why is a 19 year old wearing 80's hair? Will they figure out what 'less is more' means? Stay tunned if you have nothing better to do.
