Has there been a poll done that says women and teenagers like Jennifer better? Do a significant amount of teenagers really watch this show? That's more of an American Idol assessment. ![]() I'm yet another woman, in "middle America" albeit nowhere close to teenager status, that doesn't like Jennifer's style. She's milquetoast and I cannot stand her voice. ![]()

I agree. In the same vein we hear what the public (viewers and readers alike) expect, purchase, watch and "like". The media claims they give us what we want. No. We watch and read what we are given. pg (a comic himself) in the LCS thread has made some generalizations about comedy audiences that are not accurate, in the least. I don't even know if I am in middle America. If it is income based, well then yes, most of us are. All people with the same income do not have a shared taste or style.

I am basing this information on the HGTV boards, as well as the polling at other sites on the Internet. As far as the HGTV boards, yes there are a lot of teenagers and women there. The majority are for Jen. Polls have been done to prove that. I am not a fan of Jen's work, either.

| Re: Design Star Not a big fan of Matt, but I did throw a few votes his way. I find Jen's voice to be annoying, especially the high-pitched tone most women reserve for the first glimpse at a new puppy. What others see as "high energy" looks "frantic" to me and her desire to paint every wooden surface drives me bonkers.

| Re: Design Star Exactly! She seems genuine enough but that voice is like nails on a chalkboard to me.

| Re: Design Star I'd love to see Matt have an "advanced level" show. I could see him teaching how to design new built ins (or work with ones already there), and how to do the prep work necessary to get a good result. For me, Jennifer would be more of same-old same-old as they have at least half a dozen shows that cover her niche. |

| Re: Design Star I prefer Jennifer but threw my vote to Matt, he totally rocked the final challenge and while I liked the kitchen Jen did I could not get past the living room space facing into the corner. BTW, found the family that Jen worked with totally charming, their enthusiasm was so great but I thought that actually gave her an unfair advantage, Matt's family was sweet too but without the kids and jumping and screaming it can come off that Jen did the better job when that (to me) was not the case. Matt rocked it, every room was just so well done. |

I don't remember the wording, but it was really short. "Mikey V isn't with us tonight," or "Mikey V couldn't be here tonight." I kind of think it was more the former, but I've erased the show, so I can't go back and look. Does anyone know any back story on this. Did he decide not to come? Did they ask him not to? I was sad that he wasn't there. I guess with the controversial things that have come up, they might have felt that they needed to address them, which would have been uncomfortable all the way around.
