| Re: Design Star I think I'll vote for Matt. Jenn painted yet another beautiful table a hideous white. Ick. Matt's overall design plan was so pretty, as was Jenn's, but the design on Matt's wall was so pretty. It looked Art Decoish. ![]()

I thought both designers did a good job. I didn't like the way the tv was in front of the focal wall art in Matt's living room. Maybe I'm too practical, but I thought a white couch was a poor choice for Jenn's family with all those children. Of course, Jenn painted another wood piece.

| Re: Design Star I guess I am just too practical, but from that perspective I think both designers messed up a little. Matt picked white chairs for the dining... that is insane especially if there are kids around. Jenn did a light sofa, despite how large it was... again, impractical for kids. Also she painted, agh.. the dining room table white... what was she thinking. Despite that, they both did well and drfinately much better than what the families had. I only wish they could give them more time to shop, etc, so they can make better choices.

| Re: Design Star I haven't voted yet, mainly because I still don't know which one I like better. I like them both! On Jen's project, I did not like how she placed that huge sectional. To me, it just seemed to cut off too much of the room. It seemed like it would be hard to get around and somewhat claustrophobic. Color choice, too, was not well thought out. The white sectional, as well as the painted white dining room table....both would get so dirty and require a lot of upkeep to stay looking clean and fresh. I thought she could have put the sectional up against the wall, like Matt has his, with the TV on the opposite wall. That would have solved the claustrophic-ness of the seating area and the getting in and out of that area and would have opened up the rest of the room. With Matt's kitchen, I know that the wife said she didn't like having to reach to get into upper cabinets, but without those extra cabinets, she might not have enough space for all her kitchen stuff! |

| Re: Design Star I think I'm voting for Matt although neither redo "wowed" me either. I did like the red cabinets in Jen's kitchen but I agree that the sectional just didn't work. I didn't like that Matt painted his kitchen cabinets brown when the stain didn't work but I covet that dining room light fixture. I guess I'd just rather watch a show with Matt than Jen. I did notice that there didn't seem to be a lot of commentary from the judges. On past seasons, the judges visited the redos and gave their pros and cons of both rooms. Unless I missed something, they just showed them watching the rooms on screen with fluffy comments for both contestants.

I haven't been able to watch the show yet but did see the designs and like both of them. I will vote for Jennifer but think Matt may win if the votes for the top 4 are any indication. I just can't get the vote button to work. ![]()

| Re: Design Star Unfortunately neither of them had enough time to wow us. 36 hours limits creativity; they only had time to run and grab what they could. Last year they were given a hotel suite which was much more manageable and allowed time for creative touches. I can't say I was wowed with them though. Though the sectional was too big for that room it turned out to be the practical choice. That family is large and they expressed joy at having room to seat everyone. It is probably unfortunate for Jennifer that they spent so much time on her "mistake" with the couch. To me the bigger mistake was Matt staining the cabinets. Stain looks terrible even on high quality wood so why would he even consider staining?! Leave that for Trading Spaces. I am headed to vote for Jennifer now. I like her sensibilities and artistic ability and would love to see what she would do when left to her own devices and not limited by challenge rules. |
