| Re: Design Star I must say I haven't enjoyed this season. No one had a "wow" project. I'm just watching for the sake of completion at this point. |

| Re: Design Star I hate designers who want to paint everything. Color is great and all, but so is natural color and the beauty of natural wood. Blech Jenn for that alone. |

Pet Peeve of mine. It would drive me crazy when Faber on Trading Spaces would build a beautiful piece of furniture and Hilda would paint it. And David is just getting better and better on his show. (I notice he is wearing sleeves on his shirts most of the time, which is good. Those guns distracted from his designs and just gave the viewer something to giggle at. Of course the one time he wore long sleeves, they showed him rolling out of bed with no shirt on at all ... I LOL'd at that one)

Seriously, he is nice eye candy, and talented. Kind of like my athletic crush Greg Louganis. I don't know that the remaining candidates have the level of talent of season two, let alone season one. I wonder what Sparkle John thinks???

| Re: Design Star I've been waiting to look on this thread until I finally caught up on the shows. I was kind of surprised that Trish went home instead of Matt because I don't think he pulled off what his parents asked for other than the great idea to cover the kiln. They didn't ask for a living room but a game/craft room and all of that furniture took so much room that both her craft tables had to go. I'd have been peeved at that if it were me. I also thought he'd buy the chairs to go with the game table so the little kids could actually reach it. ![]() I didn't love Trish's design either but she did it to suit her parents and I do think it did. I think she did improve the look of the fireplace although I question her choice of floors which didn't match or contrast with the entryway wood. I've liked Jennifer's personality throughout the show and I did like this room including the wall. I also hate that she likes to paint over wood and didn't want her to carpet the hardwood but assume that the carpenter was right that refinishing it wouldn't work. I loved that coffee table and think overall it was a perfect room for her sister and family. I agree that there's not a standout star this season but feel it's much stronger than last season. I didn't agree with the top 2 then at all and couldn't stand the guy who had interesting designs but nothing I'd ever want to live with. I will say that I watched one of Kim's shows and liked what she did with a kitchen. David was clearly the best in season one and there hasn't been a standout since although I don't think it's necessary for a good design show. I think that all of the top 3 this season are good on camera which probably is as important as design skills. My pick right now is Jennifer because I'd be more likely to watch her show but it's all about the final design so we'll see. |

| Re: Design Star HGTV wants Jennifer, you know they do. She is adorable! She is my favorite though she tanked on some design choices, particularly the the Sara Evans suite. I think she has what it takes to carry a show of her own as far as personality and looks go. |

| Re: Design Star Well, Jennifer is an artist/colorist as David is. In season 1, people got all upset with his art projects...so, we'll see. Matt is a builder/designer and the network has a bunch of hunky carpenters who have stepped up to their own shows. You're right, albean - it comes down to the FINAL design on tonight's show and what sort of fans are actually going to vote. OT: I took another look at Summer Showdown (premier next Sunday) because I was curious about the judges. My comment is HUH? There are only two actual designers on the panel - the furniture partners and Sparkle Josh...the rest are some sort of list actors or in the entertainment industry. I thought this would truly be a contest. *sigh*

| Re: Design Star Did either design tonight make anyone say "WOW"? Not me. Boring boring boring. I really hate how *$&%'s client said they did not like neturals, they loved color and *$& painted the LR taupe. WHAT??? And the other one painted the cabinets and color that really didn't go well with the granite. I know it was a last minute boo boo fix but the color looked odd on camera. The only thing I liked in the whole finale was the dining room in this house. I loved everything about it. Anyone vote? |
