| Re: Design Star I hope he wins and they pair him up with the right person, the way they paired "one trick pony" David Bromstead up with that talented painter girl. Matt has a lot going for him, and what he lacks can be filled in with the right production team. |

| Re: Design Star I am also rooting for Matt. I thought the "craft room" was an odd choice too...but he did a great job. I think Jennifer would be as boring as Kim on "Myles of Style"....a true waste of airtime IMHO. Matt is not as talented as some of the other designers they have shown IMHO, I really liked Mikey, and even Sparkle Josh from last season. However Matt has had some good designs and he has "ideas" and revamps spaces rather than simply put in new storebought furniture like most of the women this season. Hate to say it, but both Jennifer and Trish would be good as "store designers", setting up displays in the showroom. Not much original about their work. Harvest you make a good point there : Matt might do much better on a show where he was paired with some other creative person/craftsperson etc. |

| Re: Design Star I love David's show. He's very talented. It was renewed for 3 seasons for good reason. Anyhoo, this year's contestants just didn't live up to the previous 2 years. I hope the next design star's show has something unique to offer. The network's shows look the same, just with different names.

| Re: Design Star I agree-the talent is not as outstanding this year but I sometimes think they let superior designers go earlier. However, I think Jennifer could be a good host-especially on a design show for real people in the real world. The room she created for her sister was warm and inviting and perfect for a Mom with two little boys who love to play on the floor. Iowa winters are cold and long and carpet makes a lot of sense there. The room Trish designed was what her clients wanted and fit their taste-designers are supposed to do that, aren't they. Matt had great solutions for the problem areas in his room, but furniture choices were not so great. Someone has to win though. |

Same for Jennifer... the color choices for the sectional were strictly mid-America. Not that there's anything bad with that, she just didn't get the same variety she would have gotten in a major metropolitan area. | |

| Re: Design Star The editors really do their job on presenting this show. Last week I was sure Trish was a shoe in for final two, if not final one. As Vern said, her presentation style is more polished than the others and she is a good designer. I wasn't surprised Matt made it into the final two; every year they have had a male/female finale. I've always liked Jenniefer and her artist's eye, and while I like her bubbly on-air personality, the judges were right last week in that she needed to find her audience - this week they say she did - helping those of us at home think we can do what she did in our own homes. So, while I'm sad for Trish, I'm happy Jennifer got to advance. Like last year it will be the Builder vs. the Decorator. Wow - talk about a tough final challenge. Not only do they have to deal with water damaged wood houses, but all the emotions that go with the re-build in New Orleans. All I can say is Good Luck to both of them.

| Re: Design Star IMO 36 hours is not enough time to redo a house in flood damaged New Orleans. I'm of two minds about this. On the one hand, it's wonderful that someone in New Orleans is getting help who really needs it, as "a hot mess" doesn't even begin to describe the situation there. On the other hand, it's hard to get excited when citizens of NO are being denied housing construction permits and are being "encouraged" to build elsewhere while people like Brad Pitt and this show apparently don't have problems getting permits to rebuild/redesign in flood-stricken areas outside of the French Quarter. |

| Re: Design Star I'm with you Kao... 36 hours is DEFINITELY not enough time to redo a house with flood damage. They should have given the contestants at LEAST a week (a month would have probably been pushing it, but I understand the time constraints of the show). Hopefully there will be a TON of assistants available to get the work done. Any news on whether they will be bringing back ousted contestants to help with the project?? It would be nice to see Mikey V pitching in to help. Did anyone else think it was totally unfair that Trish's carpenter had 2 weeks experience?? Yes, he did manage to get the floor and the fireplace done, but I really wonder what else could have been accomplished if her carpenter had been able to complete his projects in a timely fashion. Matt & Jennifer had a real advantage there. Good luck to Matt & Jennifer in the finale!!! |
